| Due to the new curriculum reform,middle school teachers should rethink how to elicit the learning desire of students,and achieve the designed teaching goals.At the same time,teachers are the implementers and designers of teaching activities,naturally,their teaching leadership correlate with good teaching and learning quality.Therefore,it is necessary to study the teaching leadership of teachers.This article adopted questionnaires and interviews approaches,the electronic questionnaires were distributed to the middle school teachers in different cities of People’s Republic of China,and 760 questionnaires finally returned.The survey and interview show that,first of all,the participants have high scores on their own teaching leadership,at the same time they have a diverse understanding of teaching leadership.Secondly,on the aspect of setting teaching goals.There are prominent variations in gender,age,and teaching experience.The interview shows that the ability of analyzing books,setting teaching goals,explaining knowledge,meeting students’ learning needs of participants depend on teaching experience.Teachers’ teaching goals are always related to the learning goals of students.Thirdly,on the aspect of classroom instruction,which is an outstanding score in marital status.The participants emphasize the individualized evaluation of students.Fourthly,on the aspect of classroom organization,there are differences in age,teaching experience,marital status,and school location.The participants are also willing to share leadership with students,and always design different activities to elevate learning interests of students.Finally,on the aspect of classroom influence,there are differences in gender,job title,marital status,subject,and school location.Teachers are expert in creating a pleasant teaching atmosphere,motivating and modeling.The relationship,communication and coordination between students and teachers highly associates with teaching experience.In addition,there is no data shows that education background,grade,position,head teacher,school category,school attributes have impact on teaching leadership of teachers.On the basis of questionnaire and interview,teaching leadership of middle school teachers can improve from the following suggestions:(1)School administrators should organize teachers to learn teaching leadership,which can establish awareness of leadership in teaching activities.(2)To improve the quality of teaching,teachers should combine three-dimensional goals with teaching objectives.(3)Teachers’ professional development is a time-consuming process.School administrators should focus on self-development of teachers and adopt different training patterns for teachers in different period.(4)Governments and schools should establish a professional image of teachers,which can improve the proportion of male in education.(5)Governments and schools can establish an incentive system for teacher professional development in rural area. |
