The new curriculum reform in the version of 2017 clearly identifies the awareness of rule of law as one of the core qualities of ideological and political disciplines in senior high school.As builders and promoters of a society under the rule of law in the new era,young people shoulder important responsibilities and missions.Currently,there are still many problems in the cultivation of the rule of law consciousness of the youth in our country,especially for the students in senior high school who just begin to be independent but they are not fully matured yet.So the effective cultivation of the rule of law consciousness becomes a major problem.The “Politics and Rule of Law” module is the only module that systematically covers the content of rule of law education in the compulsory textbooks of ideological and political courses in senior high school.In view of the fact that the textbook of this module was published not long ago and has not been widely used in ideological and political education and teaching in senior high school,this article conducts a questionnaire to survey the the current situations of the rule of law awareness of students and the situations of cultivating the awareness of the rule of law and ideological and political courses in senior high school.Based on the data,the study explores the current situations and causes and sorts out relevant strategies,hoping to provide concrete and feasible implementation suggestions for the teaching practice of the “Politics and Rule of Law” module.This article is mainly divided into five parts as follows.The first part contains the summary and necessity of the related theories of the rule of law consciousness.Firstly,it summarizes the meaning of the rule of law consciousness,the meaning of the cultivation of the rule of law consciousness,and the necessity of the cultivation of the students’ rule of law consciousness.Secondly,it analyzes the main manifestations of the rule of law consciousness from four aspects: respecting the law,studying the law,observing the law,and using the law.The second part analyses the current situation of students’ awareness of the rule of law and the cultivation of students’ awareness of it in ideological and political courses in senior high school based on a questionnaire survey of some students in a middle school in Guangzhou.The study finds students’ lack of the awareness,emotion,interest,and knowledge of the rule of law.And the students Lack of Dharma awareness,legal thinking,with single channel of law-use and insufficient ability of the rule of law.In the cultivation of students’ awareness of the rule of law,there are prominent problems that teachers emphasize the improvement of the rule of law awareness,the display of punishment of the rule of law,and the innovation of teaching methods.However,they neglect the development of the rule of law ability,the protection of the rule of law,and the effectiveness of classroom content.The third part based on the in-depth analysis of the current situations of students’ awareness of the rule of law and the cultivation of that in ideological and political classes in senior high school,analyses the main reasons from the following four aspects.Firstly,some teachers need to be improved in professionalism.Secondly,teenagers in senior high school are influenced by the stage of academic conditions.Thirdly,the system of evaluation of some schools is unreasonable.Finally,the family and social environment affect the effectiveness of the cultivation of the rule of law awareness.The fourth part discusses the optimization strategy of cultivating the rule of law consciousness of students in ideological and political class in senior high school.Based on the current situations of students’ awareness of the rule of law and the cultivation of students’ awareness of the rule of law in ideological and political classes in senior high school and the analysis of the reasons,the author proposes the change on teachers’ teaching concept,improvement on the quality and ability of teachers,innovation in teaching methods,and improvement on the effectiveness of classroom training.Also,students should change their concepts and improve the level of legal literacy.Schools should improve the teaching evaluation system,promote the overall development of students,optimize the legal education environment,and achieve multi-party collaborative education and other measures.The fifth part talks bout a teaching case of cultivating the rule of law consciousness of students in the module of “Politics and the Rule of Law”.Through the design and implementation of detailed teaching cases,efforts will be made to improve the effectiveness of cultivating the rule of law awareness of students in high school ideological and political classes.
