Journey to the West is a romantic novel in ancient China.It is also one of the Chinese classics in middle school.Since the founding of new China in 1949,selected texts about Journey to the West have appeared frequently in middle school Chinese textbooks.For example,in 1956,we read the text "three plays of corpses and demons,three Tibetan saints of Tang Dynasty hate chasing Monkey King",in 2017,we read the famous book Journey to the West and selected "banana fan in sun Walker's tune".Since 1949,Chinese textbooks for middle schools can be divided into three periods,namely,the period of single edition from 1949 to the beginning of the 21 st century,the period of multiple editions in the 21 st century,and the period of unified edition.In different periods,there are obvious differences in the selected contents of different textbooks.This paper explores the selected content of the middle school Chinese textbook Journey to the West in three periods,and finds that the importance of the textbook to the teaching of Journey to the West has gradually decreased from the teaching text to the self-study text,and then to the fragments of the famous works.But Journey to the West still has obvious teaching value for middle school students.Therefore,based on the characteristics of the selected texts of Journey to the West in different editions,absorbing and learning from the past experience of the selected texts of Journey to the West,this paper puts forward the problems of insufficient number of selected texts,lack of integrity,timeliness and knowledge to the unified edition of Journey to the West.According to the problems,we should carry out the selection suggestions of the textbook of Journey to the West.For example,the textbook can consider the monkey king,the Monkey King three hit the white bone essence,the little sage sways down the great sage,the true and false Monkey King,and put forward some suggestions to supplement the knowledge of Chinese classical novels,so as to enhance the practical significance of Journey to the West in middle school Chinese textbooks.At the same time,puts forward some suggestions for the classroom teaching of Journey to the West,such as "focusing on interest,enriching teaching forms" "focusing on understanding,digging out text connotation" "focusing on expansion,spreading excellent culture",so as to improve the quality and level of the teaching of Journey to the West.
