To promote Chinese traditional culture and implement the basic task of "fostering virtue through education",the reading aid system of ME-version articles(classic Chinese articles in the junior middle school Chinese textbook compiled by the Ministry of Education)is revised based on that of PEP-version articles(classic Chinese articles in the junior middle school Chinese textbook published by People's Education Press),through changing some classic Chinese articles,and making great changes to the arrangement,form and content of the reading aid system.Compared with the PEP-version articles,the reading system of the ME-version articles shows a rich components,which the biggest highlight of the ME-version articles.This paper discussed the features and components of the reading system for the ME-version articles and proposing sorts of issues during using the reading system based on a questionnaire survey and lots of interviews with teachers.Based on the aforementioned studies,this paper further investig ated the setting principles for each components of the reading aid system,providing a reference for the adoption and improvement of the ME-version articles.The paper consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,which shows the the research object,significance and method,and summarizes the research status for the read aid system of Chinese textbooks from five aspects: the evolution,the design theory,the components,the practical application and compiling of the reading aid system.The second part discusses the setting principles of the reading aid system,mainly based on its rationale,practical significance and presentation.The reading aid system of the ME-version articles is set according to the national curriculum standards for the Chinese textbook,theories of the educational psychology and theories of thinking evolution.The main significance of the system is activating studying enthusiasm,clarifying teaching direction and improving teaching efficiency.Compared the PEP-version articles,the ME-version articles shows a more spatial page setting,diversified forms of illustrations,and more emphasis on basic knowledge in the knowledge bank part.The third part mainly introduces the components and issues of the reading system for the ME-version articles.The preview-tip section of the ME-version articles provide the content of courses,and focuses on guiding students to experience the text with individual experience and cultivating students' open thinking.The preview-target section focuses on cultivating the self-study ability,and encouraging students to participate in the classroom teaching with their questions,forming a better teaching atmosphere and improving the studying cohesion between in and out class.Rich background knowledge can further enhance the guidance of preview tips.The illustrations in the ME-version article can be divided into four categories: natural landscapes,portraits,scene descriptions,and decorations.The illustrations can effectively activated the studying enthusiasm and deepening the direct feelings about the classic article.Properly adjusting the position of the illustration and enhancing the match between texts and pictures can further exert the function of the illustrations.The notes of the ME-version article are used to introduce its main idea,special meaning of some key words and sentences,grammatical knowledge,traditional institutions and historical customs.Notably,the numbers of the notes in the ME-version article are more than PEP-version article.The knowledge bank part of the ME-version article shows instrumental and humanistic effects providing an external clue to echoing the main content of the ME-version article.For each components of the ME-version article,sorts of suggestions are p roposed by teachers and students:enhancing the relationship between preview tips and extracurricular life;enriching the number of illustrations;improving the accuracy of annotations,and optimizing the presentation of knowledge bank part.The fourth part summarizes the compilation principles of the reading aid system.The instrumental principles should be implemented in the preview tips to providing a guidance for Chinese teaching and enhance the connections between the study in and out class.For the arrangement of the illustrations,it is necessary to fully exert the "bilingual" functions of words and pictures and ensure that the words matches well with the pictures.The annotation of the classic Chinese articles should be targeted for inspiring students to study efficiently and interestingly.The content of the knowledge bank part should be flexible and applicable to supplement students with systematic knowledge.
