On University Tolerance

Judging from the length of time spanned,the university is an old institution.But from the perspective of its ability to adapt to the environment,the university is a young institution.In the real world,which is full of diversity and difference,universities are tolerant for constantly adapting to the changes in society,so they can continue to exist in the long history of human development.Tolerance means that in a society characterized by pluralism and difference,the subject consciously restrains his own knowledge,ability,and power but does not cause negative effects,thereby achieving a "harmonious" state.Today's world is becoming "small",but people's desire to develop individuality is constantly "big".In this "small"-"big",universities are indeed facing the same objective fact: diversity and differences are growing rapidly.In its communication activities,universities need to use tolerance to alleviate conflicts and contradictions caused by differences,to find the balance of interests of various communication subjects,and to form a good communication atmosphere inside and outside the university.This paper uses the connotation of tolerance as a guide to study the issue of university tolerance.Based on the historical classic views,this paper explores the tolerance ideas inherent in the nature and functions of universities,and clarifies the importance and necessity,and finally investigates the nature and content of the university tolerance.Firstly,combing the origin and development of tolerance,using comparative methods to distinguish other similar concepts,and summing up the meaning of tolerance.Secondly,tolerance arises from the needs of the subject.This paper starts from the historical development dimension and the actual demand dimension of the university,links the particularity of the university,studies the inevitable connection between university and tolerance,and analyzes the nature and connotation of university tolerance.Thirdly,the tolerance needs of the behavior subject come from the reality of intolerance.Communication is the basic activity of a university.However,universities can easily fall into intolerable dilemmas,such as the distortion of the value pursuit of the university,despising the laws of individual development and education,and the unilateral and utilitarian nature of educational activities.This paper is guided by the content of university tolerance,aims to find out typical intolerance from the university's main communication activities.Finally,based on the understanding of the connotation and dilemma of university tolerance,this paper explores the way to achieve tolerance in the university from the three levels of consciousness,practice,and system.Thereby improving the university's tolerance ability from the awareness and behavior level,and providing guarantee for university tolerance from the inside out.
