To be the second language of geography, maps have distinct disciplinary characteristics.Especially with the advent of the era of big maps, the function of maps is constantly evolving. The importance of maps has increasingly attracted the attention of scholars. The development trend of international geography education and the requirements for students 'map literacy in the new curriculum reform in China are constantly increasing.Psychological map is a representation of the map containing various geographic information in the human brain. It is a spatial thinking and a spatial phenomenon.Through the study of students' psychological maps,it is helpful to directly find out the problems that students have in map learning and map expression. It can also indirectly understand whether students are good at observation in daily life, whether they are familiar with the surrounding geographical things, and understand the students 'psychological maps and local geography. Therefore,to study the students' map literacy from the perspective of psychological map,The situation is conducive to guiding the improvement and innovation of teaching, and has certain theoretical research significance and practical application value.Through literature review,it is found that the current map of middle school students based on psychological maps in China. There are few literacy studies, and there is also a lack of systematic methods for measuring and evaluating students 'mental map levels. To this end, this article first analyzes the students' mental maps from the five dimensions of "map preference","geographic spatial cognitive ability","map element cognitive ability","geographic information extraction and description ability",and "mental map drawing ability" Characteristics, and evaluate the implementation status of students' map literacy by constructing the expected achievement level of students' map literacy in different grades. The results show that:First, from the perspective of data correlation analysis, students “ interest in maps has a significant correlation with students' ”drawing ability and information extraction and description ability.Students ' high interest will increase their ability accordingly.Second, from the perspective of grade differences,in terms of map sentiment and perspective, students of all grades have basically met the requirements of map sentiment;in terms of knowledge, students of all grades have not fully met the expected level of requirements, especially the relatively weak foundation of the first grade students;in terms of skills and aspects, students of all grades have a gap between the actual level of map extraction and description ability and the requirements of the course standard;in terms of spatial perception ability, only the second grade of high school can basically meet the expected requirements of psychological map level;in drawing ability, the achievement degree of junior high school grade and expected level is better than senior high school grade. The high school students have forgotten knowledge in mapping. At the same time, the trained students ' drawing ability is significantly improved, which has no direct relationship with age.Third, from the perspective of gender differences,in terms of map sentiment and perspective, boys and girls did not show significant differences, but the second year of high school of boys have a higher interest in maps;in terms of knowledge, the gender differences of students are not obvious;in terms of skills and methods, girls are more meticulous in "geographic information extraction and description" than boys, reflecting a better level of literacy, but in terms of “spatial competence”,the results of students 'self-assessment show that there is a certain difference in geospatial competence between boys and girls, mainly in terms of“ location spatial positioning ”and“ latitude and longitude spatial positioning ”,the boys show a better ability;in terms of geographic mapping ability, from a gender point of view, there is not much difference between boys' and girls in drawing ability, but girls will be more meticulous than boys, their image thinking is better,.While in geography mapping, girls are better at the construction of complex geographical environment, and also have a richer Geographical representation than boys, which reflecting a better level of literacy. Therefore,in view of the problems of map literacy reflected by students' psychological map found in the survey, combined with the characteristics of psychological maps that help to form geographic thinking and geographic memory, strategies for the cultivation of psychological maps for middle school students were proposed, including “cultivating student maps interests, improve map sentiment "," establishgeographic connection, realize knowledge transfer "," establish spatial awareness, enrich geographic practice "," strengthen drawing training, improve drawing ability "and" focus on grade progression, pay attention to differences between boys and girls ".
