As an intuitive representation of historical space,historical map is an important part in the compilation of historical textbooks and plays an important auxiliary role in history teaching.In the current teaching practice of middle school history curriculum,the application of historical map is not optimistic.Teachers' use of historical maps mainly adopts the mode of display to assist the teaching of textbook knowledge,and seldom makes professional and systematic explanation of historical maps.Students' cognition of historical map mainly comes from classroom teaching and reading in exercises,and they seldom do in-depth exploration.In the new course "introduction to history",the history curriculum standards for ordinary high schools(2017 edition)promulgated by the ministry of education stresses the important role of historical maps by independently writing historical maps as part of the "introduction to history".The new curriculum standard requires students to know the types,functions and characteristics of historical maps,the changes of ancient and modern place names,and try to draw the relevant historical maps,etc.,which puts forward higher requirements for the use of maps in the history teaching of high school in the future.Reading history knowledge is the foundation of high school students' introduction to history,and learning to use history map is one of the basic ways to master the knowledge of reading history,which undoubtedly has a key significance for the formation of middle school students' core accomplishment in history.By sorting out the historical maps cited in the new curriculum of high school history,the historical maps can be divided into six categories according to the teaching contents: political situation map,economic map,military war map,historical map,cultural civilization map and territory map.The spatial,temporal,diverse and intuitive features of historical maps can help students to improve their understanding of history and improve their spatial and logical thinking.In view of the high school history new curriculum of "introduction to historiography" in historical map teaching requirements,from the teaching strategies,teachers in "the outline of Chinese and foreign history of compulsory course in the daily teaching,can adopt flexible interpretation method,multimedia demonstrationmethod,such as teaching methods,using the rich variety of teaching methods,to help students grasp the historical map reading ability,and try to draw a simple map of history.The map teaching in the elective course "introduction to history" is a special subject teaching.On the basis of reviewing and summarizing the historical map knowledge in the compulsory course,it is necessary to systematically and completely explain the relevant knowledge of the historical map,so that students can master the time,content,direction,legend and other elements in the historical map.And through different periods of place names,territories and other changes,let students establish a relatively complete concept of time and space.
