Ukraine is the border between East and West. From the perspective of history and geography,it has always been under the dual influence of Europe and Russia. From political, economic, cultural, religious and other aspects,it has shaped Ukraine's rich and diverse history and culture, and has also created a diversified history in Ukraine.Ethnic Group(Ethnic Group)composition. The main ethnic group in Ukraine is the Ukrainian ethnic group, accounting for 78% of the total population;mainly concentrated in western Ukraine, the second largest ethnic group in population is the Russian ethnic group, mainly in eastern and southern Ukraine, accounting for 17% of the total population.Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991,the ethnic conflicts in Ukraine have mainly focused on the opposition between the Ukrainian and Russian ethnic groups. The two major ethnic groups of Russia and Uzbekistan have many differences in religious beliefs, language, culture and education, residential areas, and economic activities. At the same time, there are also great differences in the understanding of national identity and nationalism. The deterioration of the relationship between the two ethnic groups is reflected in the rise of the Russian separatist forces, which culminated in the Crimean crisis.Eventually the southern Crimea peninsula declared independence and joined Russia in 2014.In the eastern provinces of Ukraine, where the Russians live, they are also caught in a crisis of civil war and division, and they are getting worse, and there is no sign of relaxation in the short term. The Ukrainians and Russians are both East Slavic peoples. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, why did Russia and Ukraine become their own independent and sovereign states, and the relations between Russia and Uzbekistan gradually drifted apart? From the perspective of ethnic relations, this article analyzes the political disputes and ethnic conflicts since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the independence of Ukraine.Through the study of ethnic relations in Ukraine,it explores the essential reasons behind the ethnic conflicts in Ukraine.
