During the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties,Taoism developed and flourished.Both Taoist priests who were good at writing and secular calligraphers who advocated Taoism had an impact on their writing due to the unique philosophical thought of Taoism.Among them,Ge Hong,Tao Hongjing,Wang Xizhi and Xiao Yan are the most representative.Combined with different calligraphy styles and different types of calligraphy materials inside and outside Taoism in this period,we find that under the influence of Taoist factors such as talismans and scriptures,the writing of calligraphy works has the characteristics of balanced space and gentle lines.Exploring the aesthetic orientation and writing style of calligraphy in the Eastern Jin and Southern Dynasties from the perspective of Taoist factors has a good inspiration for us to learn calligraphy in the middle ancient times,especially in calligraphy attitude and emotion.Through the induction and summary of Taoist calligraphers and their works inside and outside Taoism in this period,this paper explores the development status and style causes of calligraphy under the influence of Taoist factors.Combined with the core thought of Taoist philosophy,so as to further guide and improve the improvement of writing skills and writing attitude in calligraphy.In the creative practice,the author imitates and recreates the classic calligraphy of Taoist calligraphers,and finally internalizes it into his own creative style.
