A Comparative Study Of The Different Words In "The New Drunkard Tanlu" And "Taiping Guangji"

The new edition of Zui Weng Tan Lu(《新编醉翁谈録》)is a collection of Chinese texts compiled by Luo Ye(罗烨)of Lu Ling(庐陵)in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.The contents of the book are mostly copied from other books,and one of the sources of the book is Tai Ping Guang Ji(《太平广记》),and there are many different texts in these two books.As the author Luo Ye consciously adapted the text,the language of the two books,especially in terms of vocabulary,shows a relatively significant difference.This article uses Luo Ye’s The new edition of Zui Weng Tan Lu(《新编醉翁谈録》)and Tai Ping Guang Ji(《太平广记》)as the corpus,and taking the vocabulary of the two books as the main research object,then sorts out and compares the similarities and differences of the content words in the two books.After studying,we came to the following conclusion:Luo Ye(罗烨)preferred to replace uncommon names with collective names,replace written words with spoken language,and replace old words with modern words.The language of this book presents the characteristics of popularization,and there are obvious differences between the words in this book and those in Tai Ping Guang Ji(《太平广记》).At the same time,we have also explored the reasons for this differences.We believe that The new edition of Zui Weng Tan Lu(《新编醉翁谈録》),as a speaking material,is aimed at people,speakers with lower education,which requires that the language should be popular,and this kind of adaptation also conforms to the changing trend of the literary language at that time from elegance to vulgarity.In addition,this paper also makes a textual examination and interpretation of the common words and colloquial sayings in the The new edition of Zui Weng Tan Lu(《新编醉翁谈録》),and puts forward the opinions on the mistakes or omissions.
