The English-Chinese translation material is Chapter 3 and 4 of the educational work A Connected Curriculum for Higher Education, which shows the connected curriculum framework that has been adopted by UCL,stimulating the new initiatives related to research-based education, global classrooms, interdisciplinarity and public engagement. The core of this framework is learning through research and enquiry. These two chapters talk about the first two dimensions of the connected curriculum framework, that is,students connect with researchers and the institution's research;a throughline of research activity is built into each programme.Based on Nida's functional equivalence theory and employing the specific examples in the informative text, the translator analyses words under the guidance of conversion, amplification and diction, deconstructs sentences through order-changing translation method, embedding and synthesis, and links up the discourse by restoring the pronouns and adding conjunctions. This translation practice will not only enable the Chinese scholars to understand the research status and growing trend of the connected curriculum framework, but also provide references for the future translations of such texts.
