The selected text of this translation practice report is Chapter 7 from the educational philosophy text The Formation of Reason,which mainly introduces that education makes talents and analyzes the relationship between education and philosophy so as to further stress important factors of education,rational factors.So,it is of great significance to the development of Chinese education and boasts high academic value in translation.This paper is a text of educational philosophy.In terms of vocabulary,there are a lot of abstract professional terms in pedagogy,philosophy and psychology.There are many complex sentences,including adverbial clauses,attributive clauses and so on.In terms of discourse,the context logic of philosophical texts is closely related and cohesive.Eugene Nida's “functional equivalence theory” was used and case studies are made from lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence and textual equivalence.At the lexical level,professional context analysis,addition and concretization of meaning of words are mainly adopted.At the syntactic level,for complex sentences,such as attributive clauses and subject clauses,voice conversion and fronting are proposed,combined with the similarities and differences of Chinese and English expressions.In terms of discourse,pronoun concretization and removing the logical words are used according to context.Finally,the translation effect of text equivalence can be achieved.All these involve the thoughts and methods of translation of educational philosophy texts.Therefore,the educational text translation practice report can energize educational research in China and provide guidance for the translation of similar articles in the future.
