In today’s world, the establishment and planning of education policy has attracted the attention of many countries. While many countries including China have published a lot books about philosophies of education and its policies, but the books which study the pros and cons of educational policy with thinking of philosophy and provide the philosophical basis for establishment of educational policy, are relatively few.Under this situation, the translation of Philosophy and Educational Policy will be able to fill the gaps in the literature and provide useful references and guidance for educational policy makers and learners who are interested in it.Therefore, this translation practice is of great practical significance.Due to the differences in structures and forms in both of English and Chinese, the translation of English passive voice into Chinese has always been a difficult and important issue. Many translation practitioners have done a lot of practical research on the translation of English passive voice, and summed up a lot of specific translation skills: “translating passive voice into Chinese active sentences” “translating passive voice into Chinese Bei sentences” “translating passive voice into Chinese subject sentences” “translating passive voice into Chinese Ba sentences”etc. These translation strategies have been examined in the practices and could be able to provide pretty good references and guidance to practice itself, and have made a great contribution to the development of it,but many of strategies and methods put forward are based on large quantity of practices for a long time, that is,whose basis are just experiences but lack of a scientific theory to guide and fail to indicate theoretical principles of translation practice.Through a great deal of translation practices and theoretical study, the author has realized that it is necessary to break the formal differences between English and Chinese under the guidance of scientific translation theories,so as to achieve the following two goals: first,to enable the target language readers to have similar feelings to the original text readers;Second,to let the target language readers feel the rigor and logic of the original language as the source language readers. Thus, selecting Nida’s functional equivalence theory as guidance, the author tried to summarize the translation strategies and methods of passive voice in the contents of first-five chapters in Philosophy And Educational Policy, which is sure of practical guiding significance. This report is mainly divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which briefly expounds the research background, research significance. The second chapter explains the task process of the author’s translation practice, including three parts: pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation proofreading. The third chapter is divided into two parts to introduce the development of functional equivalence theory and its limitations as well as the differences in passive meaning expression between English and Chinese. The fourth chapter is a case study of translation strategies, which is the focus and core of this paper.Based on the passive voice in the book and the theory of functional equivalence, this chapter gives specific translation strategies and reasons. The fifth chapter is the conclusion, which summarizes the author’s experiences in this translation practice, and points out the shortcomings in it. |
