This article attempts to explain the application of "cultured meat" technology as a kind of tissue culture engineering in the artistic creation of "The Tissue Culture &Art Project".As a specific application of tissue engineering,"cultured meat" has entered the public eye in recent years,and as early as 1996," The Tissue Culture &Art Project " led by Oron Catts has begun to be practically applied to his artistic creations.Whether it is the historical and cultural studies of " cultured meat " or the application of " cultured meat " in artistic creation,it is rarely mentioned in the Chinese world.This article starts with the name of " cultured meat ",distinguishes two different branches in the concept of "artificial meat"-"plant meat" and " cultured meat ";it sorts out the history of " cultured meat ",from the imagination of popular culture to the brief history of technology;then did a pedigree study on the causes of "cultured meat ",from the way of replacing conventional meat to sorting out the reasons for this phenomenon from various factors;next is the sorting out of the main members and the artistic creations of "The Tissue Culture & Art Project";finally describes how is it possible that "cultured meat" as a material could be used in artistic creations,and narrates it in different artistic discourse systems.In the narrative of this article,a series of problems arising from "cultured meat" are hidden in the first and second parts.In the artistic creation of " The Tissue Culture &Art Project"",these series of problems have been thought and addressed through ways of artistic works.And when we introduce the perspective of tissue engineering and use life as a material for artistic creation,what kind of narrative is used in the artistic discourse is the kind of issues this article focuses on.
