The rapid growth of the global economy and the rapid development of communication technologies in the 21 st century have led to an increasingly developed and diversified media and have increasingly influenced the dependence of audiences on various media.Today,many children are overly exposed to the media,which has a negative impact on their moral values and behavioral skills to varying degrees.Addressing the problem of children's "media addiction" has become an issue of concern for many people.Therefore,the translation practice was based on the book "Children Who Can't Really Grow Up" written by Teruki Kiyokawa,and the first part of the third chapter and the first part of the second chapter were selected as the translation text,based on Neda's functional theory.This work,published by Oar Press in April 2003 and not yet available in Chinese,focuses on the negative effects of "media addiction" on children's physical and mental development,including consideration of the causes of children's "media addiction" from various aspects such as medicine,psychology,physical development,education,cultural environment,etc.,and proposes countermeasures.This translation practice report is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is a brief introduction of the translation task,which mainly introduces the author,the literature,the purpose and significance of the translation task.The second chapter is a description of the translation process,which mainly expounds the three aspects of the translation task: preparation before translation,process during translation and proofreading after translation.The third chapter is a guide to translation theory and briefly discusses the concept of functional equivalence.Chapter 4 is the focus of this translation practice report,i.e.,the translation case study.This includes the application of the translation theory of functional equivalence to guide the specific translation practice: in the translation part of the title,the guiding principle of lexical equivalence is mainly used,and three methods of direct translation,Italian translation and additional translation are chosen.In terms of vocabulary,the principle of lexical equivalence is used as the guiding principle,and the translation methods of paraphrasing and augmentation are used.In terms of sentences,the principle of syntactic equivalence and chapter equivalence is used as the guiding principle for translation,and the translation methods of backward translation,split translation,increased translation and Italian translation are used.In this way,this paper achieves the purpose of linking theory to practice,applying learning to practice,and providing foreign literature for Chinese scholars studying this field of children's education.In addition to this,this also includes a specific analysis of the translation of titles,vocabulary and sentences,mainly from the problems encountered in the translation process.Chapter 5 is a summary of the translation practice report.Through this translation practice,the author has recognized his own shortcomings,and at the same time,he has gained a new understanding and knowledge of translation theory and skills,as well as a clear direction for future efforts.Based on the above,the author will insist on translation practice in the future,learn diligently and practice hard to improve the translation level continuously.
