Based on the study of Tsai Ming-liang's "Walker" series movies,this paper explores his aesthetic style,the relationship between film and Contemporary Art,and his new viewing style and experience,to find out the uniqueness of the "Walker" series movies,the "culture" behind the "Walker" series movies,as well as the expansion of the concept boundary of movie by the "Walker" series movies.This paper is divided into four chapters:the first chapter is the introduction,which explains the research background,research status,research methods,research value and innovation.In the part of Research Status,the author combs the domestic and international research literature on Tsai Ming-liang's works and the research literature of the "Walker" series,through the analysis and summary of these documents,the thesis of this paper has a systematic and comprehensive understanding.In the second chapter,the author uses the method of text analysis and literature analysis to elaborate Tsai Mingliang himself,his writing track,movies style,as well as the "Walker" series of eight movies.Tsai Ming-liang is the author of rebellion against the mainstream aesthetic.The third chapter,the author from three aspects of the "Walker" series of movies of art were analyzed.The first part starts with the aesthetics of "Walker" series,and proposes three unique aesthetic directions:"gazing" long shot,"real time",and the boundary between the imaginary and the recorded.In the section of "real time",the author introduces the concept of "Time delay" in Gilles Deleuze to interpret the special concept of time in the"Walker" series.In the second part,the author links the "Walker" series with installation art and performance art in Contemporary Art,from the perspective of cross-border practice,this paper analyzes the pioneering of the "Walker" series in expanding the boundaries of film.The third part,the author puts forward the question of how to see and what to see in the series movies of "Walker",from the body and performance,contemplation of watching these two aspects of the answer.It points out that the movies of "Walker" are characterized by abandoning the story,concentrating on the body walking,and refusing the "cool" feeling experience and viewing in a thinking way.In the Fourth Chapter,the author uses the method of cross-cultural studies to analyze the "Walker"series from the perspective of culture,and to explore the cultural gene behind the"Walker".This chapter is divided into three parts:"Walker" and "Zen",Walker and "postmodern","Walker" and "slow culture".The author traces back to the origin of the concepts of "Buddhist film","The Postmodernity of film" and "Slow Culture",and then analyzes these three cultural factors one by one through the method of text analysis.The research value and innovation of this paper lies in the small to see the big,through the analysis of the "Walker" series of movies creation concept,in the critics are mourning"the film has died",looking for "the film rebirth" method.Tsai Ming-liang brought contemporary art into the film making process,injecting fresh blood into the film.The extreme aesthetics of film and television in his films and the discussion of "another way to watch movies" have also found a way to make films return to art in this commercial film era.This paper is not only a study of "Walker" series movies,but also the study of film creation and development.
