The Presentation Of China's Image By BBC's "China Story" And NHK's "Mystery Of Chinese Civilization"

As the world's top documentary film production organization,the BBC and NHK have always kept a close eye on China's development.The documentary with China as the theme has become the main content of the BBC and NHK documentary.Therefore,the image of China in the documentary is known to other countries and comprehensively China has had an important impact.Based on this,this article first collects and statistics on the Chinese-themed documentaries they have filmed.Since the 21st century,the BBC and NHK have produced 58 Chinese-themed documentaries,covering all aspects of China's image,but the two countries in the mainstream media has changed the past focus on China's political and economic fields,instead of increasing attention in the field of culture in our country,and their popularity has continued to increase.Secondly,a case analysis of the BBC and NHK documentaries is conducted.Based on the framework method,the three levels of the documentary are micro,meso and macro.The meaning field conducts in-depth analysis to explore the specific Chinese image presented in the two documentaries "Chinese Story" and "The Mystery of Chinese Civilization".The study found that the two documentaries presented an image of a culturally brilliant China,an image of a fine tradition,and an image of a civilized cycle in an objective and neutral position.On this basis,through the Chinese image presented in"China Story" and "The Mystery of Chinese Civilization",we can draw on and absorb the successful experience of other documentaries in other countries,and have a certain thinking and reflection on the self-propagation of China's image and actively shape Chinese image.
