| Bauman tries to construct the moral theory of “the other” by the reflection on the Holocaust,the analysis of strangers,the explanation of modernity and contradiction,the interpretation of consumer society,and the criticism of the reality of Western society through the concealment of violence.Bowman believes that with the advent of economic globalization,liquidity and non-fixity are flooding every corner of the modern world and we’re all surrounded by strangers.Today,moral indifference under postmodernism has been extended to the field of social daily life,which is extremely dangerous and terrible.Under postmodernism,morality is independent and transient,with a trend of fragmentation.Morality,in a state of independence and isolation,has broken away from the shackles of ethics,which brings not only challenges but also new opportunities to it.Bauman tries to build a unilateral moral autonomy,which emphasizes the moral responsibility of the subject and opposes compulsory morality.The author believes that it is necessary to discuss the establishment of public responsibility under Bauman’s “the other” moral view.However,in a mobile modern society,it is difficult to apple the moral theory which overemphasizes the unrequited and unlimited one-way responsibility. |
