| This paper discussed the current status of the Family Drama of TVB, there are five parts of this paper.In the first chapter, the introduction, it discussed the subject and the way of study it. At the beginning of 1980s, the Hongkong TV series gradually began to swarm into the China’s mainland and received nation wide popularity, most of those them produced by the Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB). On the historical evolution of the spreading progress in China’s mainland in more then 30 years, the TVB TV seriesit not only experienced several important phases itself, but also has a great impact on the TV audience and TV series of China’s mainland, during the self-exploring process, and by bringing the Hongkong culture into the China’s mainland, its unique culture is changing and influencing the culture of China’s mainland unobtrusively and imperceptibly, and the two are presenting a blending tendency.The second chapter reviewed the history of the Family Drama of TVB. Hongkong TV series has played a decisive role during the whole develop progress of Chinese TV industry, represented by the Family Drama of the TVB. The Family Drama of TVB has its own pattern and characteristics: from the dramatic story plots, charismatic character personalities, to the refined video post process, all proved that their outstanding audience rates in Hongkong and overseas were happened for a reason, and especially the Family Drama, which proved to be highly well recieved in China’s mainland.All these excellent achievements made by Hongkong TV series are not going to happen without fully collaboration between the actors, the shooting crews, and the great production team behind the scene. So the third chapter is about the characteristics of the Family Drama of TVB. Today the Family Drama of TVB TV series has become a cultural rand with increasing cultural value and influence. However, with the development of the modern TV industry, the audience became more and more picky on the TV series, and also under the threat of the internet, the illegal pirate VCD and the competition between other TV series, the Hongkong TV series produced by TVB is under a plight, their profit has been shrunk and losing their glory.The fourth chapter examined the reason, the spreading process and the influence of the Family Drama of TVB, aiming to explain the practical reasons behind the Family Dramas development and change in the new century, and trying to find out why it received high audience acceptance rates. Except summarizing the communication phenomenon of Family Drama in China’s mainland, this essay tried to further analyse the characteristics and charm of the Family Drama of TVB, and find out how it can achieve its success in China’s mainland. And also this essay studied that how Hongkong culture influenced and benefited from China’s mainland by using TV series as a medium for promotion of Hongkong culture, and conducted a thorough study of the current situation of Hongkong culture in China’s mainland, using Family Drama of TVB as a representative sample. Besides, this essay discussed in the context of globalization, how imported TV series influence local culture through their processes of spreading, by analysing some other regional TV series: American TV series and Korean TV series.The fifth chapter discussed the future of the Family Drama of TVB. Nowadays, series of theories of Literature and Art have expanded to the field of TV industry and brought me fresh samples, new projects and extra fun when I study the Family Drama of TVB with it. Hongkong TV industry has been very productive, and the Family Dramas of TVB have been produced and watched a lot, but the way they told stories remained relatively simple and monotonous. Compared with movies and literature, they were too conservative and boring when it comes to the tense modification, position arrangement, and opinion designs.But the Family Dramas have brought back our childhood moral standards and the ways we consider questions, also with the producers and audiences to stand by them, to defend them and protect them, seriously and consciously. Do we sit in front of the TV with that much of patience just for our endless desire for stories? What kind of stories we are watching in the little box? Whats the differences between the stories that were told by different media? Today, if we do a little comparison between the TV series and movie, its easy to see that ways movie tells a story are much richer then ways of TV series. But still, in its mysterious and unique way, TV series continued to receive wide popularity among audience, we must admit the Family Dramas of TVB have its own sophisticated way of charm. But if the Hongkong TV series represented by TVB wants to have a better chance to develop they have to broaden their business market, especially the market of China’s mainland. |
