Objective:The main objective of this study was to explore the proportion of patients with pulmonary nodule(s)who were also in a state of depression or anxiety by referring to their respective depression and anxiety indexes.By referring to the quality of sleep, characteristics of nodules, signs and symptoms related to respiratory system, and etc, this study also aimed to explore the pathogenesis of depression and anxiety on the onset of pulmonary nodule(s)from the perspective of Chinese medicine,in order to enhance clinical efficacy in the treatment of pulmonary nodule(s).Methodology:A total of 260 patients with pulmonary nodule(s)were recruited from the outpatient clinic of Prof.Zhang Xiaomei, located at the second affiliated hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.Self-rated Depression Anxiety Stress Scale(DASS)21 and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)were used to evaluate the depression level, anxiety level and sleep quality of each patient, while Clinical Observation Form of Pulmonary Nodule was used to collect clinical information such as the morphology of nodule(s),severity of signs and symptoms related to respiratory system, and etc from each patient.Statistical software of SPSS27.0 was utilised for data management,as well as to analyse the proportion of patients with pulmonary nodule(s)who were also in a state of depression or anxiety,to analyse the individual relationships between depression, anxiety and sleep quality,to analyse the correlation between depression, anxiety, sleep quality and signs and symptoms related to respiratory system, and to analyse the variance between different morphology of pulmonary nodule(s)to signs and symptoms related to respiratory system. Conclusion:The percentage of patients with pulmonary nodule(s)co-existed with depression or anxiety was 61.15%and 61.92%respectively,in which the co-relation between depression and anxiety with the onset of pulmonary nodule(s)can be further studied with case cohort study or other types of study. The percentage of patients with pulmonary nodule(s)co-existed with sleeping problems was 61.92%,in which the co-relation between sleeping problems with the onset of pulmonary nodule(s)can be further studied with cohort study or other types of study. The level of depression, level of anxiety and the quality of sleep were significantly co-related with each other among the patients with pulmonary nodule(s).The level of depression and level of anxiety were significantly co-related to the severity of signs and symptoms related to respiratory system among the patients with pulmonary nodule(s).The level of depression and level of anxiety were not significantly co-related to the diameter of nodule, number of number, and density of nodule(s).Different number and density of pulmonary nodule(s)did not possess significant variance on the severity of signs and symptoms related to respiratory system among the patients with pulmonary nodule(s).The diameter of pulmonary nodule(s)was not significantly co-related to the severity of signs and symptoms related to respiratory system among the patients with pulmonary nodule(s).
