As the birthplace of the Chinese nation, northern China is the birthplace and prosperity of many traditional operas. The performance-based architecture,as a product derived from traditional opera, has undergone a long development process from appearance to development, from the initial “placement as a field” without the concept of place to the place-oriented Goulan Washe, and then it has developed into an architectural style. The temple theater and the city theater eventually evolved into a modern grand theater. As far as the existing performance-oriented buildings are concerned, the architectural cultural relics of the northern region account for a large proportion of the national ground cultural relics. Therefore,it has important theoretical significance and application value to carry out the research work on the traditional performance-oriented buildings in the northern area. The research object of this article is traditional performance-oriented buildings, and the research scope is northern China. The article is divided into five chapters. The first chapter focuses on the concept of the research object, discusses the main research content and research significance, and analyzes the relevant theoretical research of domestic and foreign scholars on the performance-oriented buildings in the northern region. The second chapter sorts out the historical evolution and development of traditional performance-oriented buildings through the analysis of the general situation and historical culture of the northern region, and lists representative cases of traditional performance-oriented buildings in various regions. In the third chapter, through the analysis and research on the plane layout, structural modeling and decorative art of the traditional performance-oriented buildings in the northern region, the "campaign" and "made" and unique spatial characteristics are explored. The fourth chapter analyzes the necessary value of the traditional performance-oriented buildings in the northern region for the continuation of the contemporary through the analysis of tradition and modernity, and summarizes the principles that need to be followed to inherit its architectural characteristics and the design strategies applicable to contemporary society. The fifth chapter explores the continuation of traditional performance-based architectural culture and historical and regional culture through modern performance-based architectural cases. It is hoped that the discussion in this paper can be beneficial to the inheritance of traditional architectural culture and opera culture, and provide innovative ideas for the design of performance-oriented buildings in the future.
