Historic commercial block is the material expression of urban history and culture.Its spatial pattern,landscape form and functional combination reflect the characteristics of local economy,culture,folk custom and trade.It is the superposition and accumulation of urban development,business model and residents' life and production.With the rapid development of social economy,historic commercial blocks are gradually declining due to their difficulty in adapting to the current urban development and residents' life style,and the rich historical geography,commercial and cultural information contained in them are also gradually disappearing.How to protect the historic business block space texture,architectural features,and keep the urban development history and cultural characteristics,how to grasp the balance between the protection and renewal,keep the historic business blocks,on the basis of its unique cultural characteristics,in the urban development,adapt to the new way of life,this is the urgent problem facing numerous historic business blocks,is also in this paper the content of the discussion and research.This paper takes Changzhou Biji Lane as the research object to discuss the methods and ideas of landscape protection and renewal of historic commercial blocks in the process of urban development.First of all,the theoretical basis of this study is constructed through the review of relevant literature and excellent case studies.Secondly,field investigation and interview were conducted on the natural and cultural environment,residents' needs and wishes of Changzhou Biji Lane,to master the layout of streets and lanes,land and water traffic pattern,architectural features and cultural connotation of Biji Lane,and to reveal the contradiction between urban development and local cultural heritage protection.Thirdly,on the basis of fully respecting the historical characteristics and spatial pattern of the lane and the wishes of residents and tourists,the ideas of protection and renewal of the lane are put forward.Fourth,Changzhou Biji Lane protection and renewal design practice,to create the connotation of ancient canal civilization and ancient street style,commercial,tourism and other functions as one of the complex block.Highlight the cultural value and commercial value of the lane,stimulate the vitality of the block in Changzhou,and integrate it into the urban development system.The research on landscape protection and renewal design of Biji lane in changzhou makes the historic commercial block a unique cultural name card of the city,which is not only conducive to the protection of the historic commercial block,but also enriches the cultural image of the city,and provides feasible theoretical and practical support for the sustainable development of the historic commercial block.
