The urban stubbornness of traffic congestion and environmental pollution under the background of rapid motorization has become a bottleneck in urban development.The establishment of a multi-mode green transportation system is an important way to solve urban transportation problems and promote urban low-carbon and sustainable development.Urban public bicycles have the potential to intervene in the transformation of residents’ travel modes by "supplementing" and "substituting" other transportation modes.The research on the impact of public bicycle transportation on the transformation of residents’ travel modes at the empirical level has not been uniformly and clearly answered.It is necessary to study how public bicycles affect the transformation of residents’ travel modes,In order to guide residents to travel to a low-carbon way to change,promote the healthy and sustainable development of urban transportation.This study uses Xi’an as a case study,It mainly focuses on the travel mode shift and the influencing factors under the intervention of public bicycle transportation.From the perspective of public bicycle users,use questionnaire survey data to characterize the transition characteristics of public bicycle users’ travel modes.Based on the transformation of different travel modes,the user’s social attributes and travel characteristics are analyzed.Finally,Qualitative analysis of the incentives and obstacles caused by the conversion of different travel modes,and using an ordered Logistic model to identify the factors that affect the difference in travel mode conversion intensity.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The users who use public bicycles for the whole journey are mainly converted to regular buses,walking and private bicycles,and a small number of private bicycles,electric vehicles and taxis.The users of public bicycle connection mode are mainly switched from conventional buses to public bicycles to subways,private cars to public bicycles to subways,and regular buses to pedestrians to conventional public buses.(2)The users of conventional public transport,walking,private bicycles,and private cars turning to public bicycles for the whole journey have significant differences in gender,age,occupation,monthly income,travel distance,and travel time,and the differences in family attributes are small.In the connection mode,the user’s travel distance and travel time are different,and there is little difference in socio-economic attributes.(3)The convenience,time saving and physical exercise of public bicycles are the main reasons for attracting residents to use public bicycles throughout the journey.Conventional buses have a long waiting time,public bicycles travel faster than public buses,public bicycles are convenient for shopping,private bicycles need to consider parking maintenance and other issues,and private car congestion is serious.Use public bicycles throughout the journey.Facilitating the connection of other modes of transportation and saving travel time are the main reasons for attracting residents to switch to public bicycles.Private cars are heavily congested and parking is difficult.Parking encourages users to switch from private cars to public bicycles to connect to the subway.Preferences such as dislike walking encourages users to switch from regular buses to public bicycles to public buses.The weather is the main reason preventing residents from using public bicycles.Not sure if there are public bicycle stations around,the public bicycles are worn out,etc.are important factors that prevent residents from using public bicycles throughout the journey.Factors such as ample time and unwillingness to ride bicycles have prevented residents from using public bicycles to travel.(4)Socio-economic attributes,travel characteristics,built environment and attitude preference have an effect on the travel intensity of users under different travel modes of public bicycles and the travel intensity of different traffic travelers who use public bicycles.The difference in travel intensity between public bicycles and connecting modes is mainly affected by travel characteristics and built environment.However,the travel intensity of different traffic travelers who use public bicycles is different under different travel modes.The conversion intensity under the public bicycle travel mode is mainly affected by the socio-economic attributes and attitude preferences;the conversion intensity under the public bicycle travel mode is mainly affected by the built environment.
