As climate change becomes an international issue, more and more researchers are paying attention to the possibility that the climate will affect human health.Studies have pointed out that older populations are additionally vulnerable when it comes to coping with climate degradation. In the middle and late of this century,China's aging process has accelerated, and the number of elderly people has been rising rapidly in both absolute numbers and relative proportions. The fragility of the elderly population coupled with the increase in the number of the groups will lead to the adverse effects of adverse climate on the elderly in the foreseeable future, which will gradually increase the pressure on our public health system. Therefore, studying the impact of climate on the health and mortality risk of the elderly, and understanding its impact patterns and impact paths, has become the theoretical basis for reducing the adverse effects of climate environment, and this is the focus of this article. The vast majority of existing research focuses on the impact of short-term climate on the health and mortality risk of the elderly, and this article focuses on the impact of long-term climate. Many existing studies have demonstrated the significant impact of short-term climate on the incidence of elderly disease and death, and this study focuses on the impact of climate on the health and mortality risk of the elderly from a social science perspective. The potential impact on the health of the elderly, and the impact path of their health on the mortality risk among the elderly, and the role of socioeconomic factors and climate adaptation methods in the elderly was evaluated. These conclusions are an indispensable foundation for a more in-depth study of this issue,as well as a theoretical basis for taking necessary policies and reducing potential impacts on the adverse effects of the climate and environment. The data in this article is derived from the CLHLS 201 1-2014 tracking survey data.In order to comprehensively consider the impact of the climate, this article clusters the elderly samples into three categories based on the climate variables where the elderly live, each of which represents a different climate area. The climate area was used as an independent variable to assess the impact of the climate on the health and mortality risk of the elderly. The health status of the elderly chooses the ADL self-care status of the elderly and the IADL instrument self-care status as indicators. The logistic regression method is used to study the impact of the climate on the health of elderly. At the same time, the characteristics of the elderly and the adjustment of the climate adjustment methods are evaluated. We also use KM survival curve and Cox model to analyze the impact of climate on the mortality risk of the elderly. At the same time, according to the existing research results, covariates such as the personal characteristics of the elderly, the chronic illness, the level of social and economic development in the area where they live, and the caregivers at the time of illness were included to control these possible impacts. The thesis is divided into 6 chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction, which mainly includes the significance of the research, literature review of related research, definition of core concepts, and the basis for selecting covariates.Chapter 2 is a detailed description of the research content and research methods used in this research, including the main content of this research, the operation of independent variables, dependent variables, covariates, and research methods adopted for different research content.Chapter 3 studies the impact of climate on the health of elderly people.Chapter 4 focuses on the adjustment effects of the elderly's own socioeconomic characteristics and the climate adaptation methods on the path of the impact of the climate on the health of the elderly.Chapters 3 and 4 use logistic regression models.Chapter 5 focuses on the impact of climate on the mortality risk among the elderly. It uses the Cox proportional hazards model and takes into account the health issues of the elderly discussed in the previous two chapters,in order to more fully understand the climate on the mortality risk of the elderly. The chapter 6 is the summary of this article, including the combing of the conclusions, the policy recommendations corresponding to the research conclusions, and the problems and improvement directions of this research. The final conclusions of this study are:a)the climate has a very significant impact on the health of the elderly, and the health of the elderly in the more comfortable climate is better;b)Unhealthy elderly people are more susceptible to the adverse effects of the climatic;c)The socio-economic factors of the elderly themselves and the adjustment method of the climate to the climate have limited regulating effects;d)The climate does not have a significant direct effect on the mortality risk of the elderly, but can indirectly affect the mortality risk by affecting the health of the elderly.
