| Using cluster sampling method,674 questionnaires were distributed to two middle schools in Mudanjiang City,Heilongjiang Province and a middle school in Luoyang City,Henan Province,to explore the relationship between family social class and self-esteem of junior high school students,the mechanism of childhood neglect and friendship quality in the relationship,and the differences between the four variables in demographic variables.The results show that:1.The subjective and objective family social classes of junior middle school students are at the lower middle level,the self-esteem of junior high school students is at the middle and high level,the junior high school students are at the overall low level,and the friendship quality of junior high school students is at the middle and high level.The variables showed significant differences in some of the demographic variables.2.Significant associations exist between childhood neglect,self-esteem,and family social class.Among them,family social class was negatively correlated with childhood neglect and total score in childhood,childhood neglect and total score were negatively correlated with self-esteem,and family social class was positively correlated with selfesteem.3.The relationship model of family social class,childhood neglect and self-esteem found that childhood neglect plays a partial intermediary role in the relationship between family social class and self-esteem,and that family social class can directly affect selfesteem or affect self-esteem through childhood neglect.4.Friendship quality can adjust the indirect influence of objective family social class on self-esteem through childhood neglect.When the friendship quality is high,the negative relationship between objective family social class and childhood neglect is weakened,while it is strong.5.Friendship quality can adjust the direct influence of subjective family social class on self-esteem.When the friendship quality is at a low or general level,the positive prediction relationship between subjective family social class and self-esteem is significant.This study reveals the relationship between family social class and self-esteem of junior high school students and its mechanism of action and demographic variables,and provides suggestions for guiding junior middle school students to reduce the negative impact of family social class on self-esteem,and better promote the academic and mental health development of junior high school students. |
