Parenting style,as a microcosmic mechanism affecting the intergenerational mobility of classes,has been paid more and more attention to the study of social stratification at home and abroad.Parents of different socioeconomic status will provide differentiated parenting methods for their children,which will make children have different learning tendencies,and then lead to different learning achievements.The academic achievement of students in junior middle school will directly affect their first education diversion and have a cumulative effect on the subsequent education.From the perspective of education sociology,this thesis explores the influence of parenting style on junior high school students’ academic achievement by paying attention to the difference of parenting style in different socioeconomic status,and systematically examines the micro mechanism of parenting style shaping academic achievement.This will help to reveal the causes of heterogeneity of academic achievement,clarify the formation mechanism of educational inequality,and promote the realization of educational equity.In this thesis,junior high school students were selected as the research object,and SPSS22.0 was used to explore the difference of parenting style,the heterogeneity of academic achievement and the impact of parenting style on academic achievement through questionnaire survey.The results show that: First,most parents tend to adopt the emotional warm way to raise their children;Second,there are significant group differences in parenting styles.Third,there is a significant correlation between parenting style and academic achievement.Emotional warmth was positively correlated with academic achievement,while rejection and overprotection were negatively correlated with academic achievement.Fourth,parental emotional warmth has a significant positive impact on academic achievement,while parental rejection and overprotection have no significant impact on academic achievement.Fifth,there is a significant mediating effect between parenting style and academic achievement,and parenting style can indirectly influence academic achievement through influencing children’s self-expectation.By analyzing the reasons behind the results,we can find that the change of parenting concept,the one-child policy and the improvement of the awareness of the return of education may promote parents to adopt positive parenting style.The group differences in the ways of education are mainly due to the differences in the possession of economic and cultural capital and the differences in the habits of education.By analyzing the effect mechanism of parenting style on academic achievement,it is found that parenting style influences children’s academic achievement through influencing their cognitive and non-cognitive abilities.Based on the research results,this thesis puts forward the following countermeasures from the three levels of parents,schools and government: parents should attach importance to the role of parenting style and motivation,improve educational ability,and adopt positive parenting style to raise their children scientifically;Schools should attach importance to the education of children from disadvantaged groups,pay attention to the family factors behind students,treat every student equally,attach importance to the contact with parents,and promote home-school co-education;The government should increase the educational investment in schools,incline to the disadvantaged class,construct social support network,exert the power of community education,and promote the realization of educational equity. |
