| Based on sports education theory,Sports Education Model is a physical education teaching model proposed by Siddentop in the 1980 s.Its teaching philosophy,which is in line with the direction of the new era of school physical education reform in China,as well as its low difficulty of teaching practice,have laid the foundation for Chinese scholars to carry out theoretical research and practice related to it.College sports plays a vital role in developing college students’ physical health,athletic skills and personality.The current PE teaching reform in colleges and universities requires persisting in the education idea of health first,promoting students’ all-round development and enhancing their comprehensive quality.Basketball is one of the most widely played courses in the college public physical course and is very popular among college students.In order to implement the reform of school sports in the new era and deepen the reform of physical education,this study tries to apply Sports Education Model to the public sports basketball teaching in colleges and universities,so as to make up for the deficiency of the traditional teaching model in college basketball teaching and promote the enrichment of college basketball teaching model.In this study,according to the characteristics of college public basketball teaching,the literature method was used to study the theoretical and practical studies on Sports Education Model at home and abroad;the experimental method was used to apply Sports Education Model and the traditional teaching mode to the experimental class and the control class;the questionnaire survey method and mathematical statistics method were used to compare and analyze the effects of Sports Education Model on students’ basketball skills,physical fitness,interest,and motivation thee four aspects after it was applied to college public basketball teaching.According to the experimental results,the following conclusions are drawn:（1）Both Sports Education Model and the traditional one have a good effect on improving the physical quality of students,but compared with the latter,Sports Education Model influences students’ strength quality,speed quality,and special physical fitness more..（2）Both Sports Education Model and the traditional teaching model are helpful for the improvement of students’ basketball skills,but the teaching effect of Sports Education Model is more significant in one-minute shooting and "8" dribbling and layup.（3）Compared with the traditional teaching model,Sports Education Model has a significant teaching effect in promoting students’ interest in sports and other dimensions,which is more helpful to the cultivation of students’ learning interest in physical education learning.（4）Compared with traditional teaching model,Sports Education Model has remarkable teaching effect in promoting students’ sports motivation in all dimensions,and can effectively motivate them to participate in basketball. |
