Research On The Educational Effectiveness And Optimization Of Public Universities For The Aged From The Social Work Perspective

Abstract/Summary:
Population aging is the product of China’s economic and social development.Under the background of advocating active aging and building a learning society,the elderly education is an important measure to deal with the aging of population and realize the modernization of education.Microscopically,it is the effective ways to improve the quality of life in the aged.In the elderly education,educational effectiveness is the lifeline of the university for the aged,and the foundation for its establishment and development.This research takes S university for the aged as the research object,based on empowerment theory and lifelong education theory,from the four aspects of teaching satisfaction,school cultivation,resource links and achievement publicity to explore the effectiveness of education for the aged.Puts forward the following research questions: Do public universities for the aged have educational effectiveness assessment tools? What is its educational effectiveness? How do students’ personal characteristics,family support,and community understanding and participation in aged education affect educational evaluation? From social work perspective,how to optimize public university education for the aged?The research finds that S university for the aged has an educational effectiveness assessment scale,but the scale is relatively rough and almost does not reflect from social work perspective.Fully in this case,this study refer to all kinds of satisfaction scale at home and abroad,based on social work perspective prepare a more detailed and comprehensive "elderly university teaching satisfaction questionnaire",a random sample of the questionnaire survey to 200 students in recycling effective questionnaire 191,and interviews with 15 related personnel.On the one hand,descriptive analysis of relevant data is carried out to understand the teaching satisfaction of S university for the aged;On the other hand,through multiple linear regression,one-way ANOVA,independent sample T test,this thesis explores the influence and difference of elderly students’ personal characteristics,family support degree,community understanding and participation degree on teaching satisfaction.In addition,combined with the interview data and participatory observation information,the situation of school cultivation,resource link and achievement publicity are briefly discussed.The results of data analysis show that: Firstly,most dimensions of satisfaction of S university for the aged are relatively satisfied,and only the satisfaction of teaching management and service is very satisfied.Secondly,the achievement publicity of S university for the aged has achieved a demonstration leading role with credibility based on the education system for the aged,but the problems of single spontaneous organization,weak financial support and low utilization of community resources are presented in the aspects of school cultivation and resource links.Thirdly,the personal characteristics of students have different influences and significant differences on the satisfaction evaluation of all dimensions.Fourthly,the degree of family support has a significant positive impact on the satisfaction of five dimensions other than practical teaching and the overall satisfaction,and the degree of family support has a significant difference in the evaluation of the satisfaction of teachers and other dimensions other than teaching.Fifthly,community understanding and participation degree have a significant impact on the satisfaction of four dimensions other than teaching management and service and teaching assurance and the overall satisfaction.There are significant differences in all dimensions of students’ satisfaction with different levels of understanding.Whether students have participated in community education activities for the elderly only has significant difference in the degree of satisfaction of curriculum dimension.According to the data analysis results,this research discusses the effect of S university for the aged,and found that there are problems such as students’ low degree of refinement in learning experience,few opportunities for social participation in practical teaching and weak expression of social value in personal development.Therefore,from social work perspective,this research puts forward three suggestions for the optimization of public university for the aged education: First,provide individualized services,such as opening a social work department,paying attention to individual differences of students,and maintaining cultural sensitivity.Second,strengthen practical teaching,such as mobilizing community resources,promoting the construction of social relationship network for the aged,and opening the third class of education for the aged.Third,attach importance to empowering and enabling people,such as reshaping the students participation subjectivity,enhancing family support,and encouraging students to help each other.
