Since the dawn of the educational history,“discipline”have existed in schools.Educational punishment is not only a discipline,but also a moral code.The students of junior middle school are experiencing the key period to form their views on world,life and value,along with the high incidence of inappropriate behaviors.How to understand the current situation of educational punishment and explore a reasonable and effective way to implement it,which is an important part of current elementary education management.The main purpose of this paper is to understand the dilemma of punishment in middle school and find a solution for the teachers to make sure they punish students properly.The paper constructs a logical framework from four aspects: theoretical support,comparative study,historical logic and realistic basis of punishment.More than 800 teachers,parents and students from Grade 7 to Grade 9 of Y Middle School in P City were selected as the research objects.To analyze the questionnaire data,SPSS26.0 was used to conduct descriptive statistical analysis,cross table analysis and Chi-square test,leading a discussion with interview and observation logs.The results show that there is still a large gap between educational disciplinary measures and the expected goals: 1.The cognition of punishment and corporal punishment of the three parties is not clear,and there is a distrust in teachers’ power of punishment.2.Teachers’ disciplinary behavior is improper,while the educational significance is ignored in the object,means and process of punishment.3.It is difficult for teachers to find a legitimate basis for punishment,and there are irregularities and injustices.4.Parents and teachers are not satisfied with the overall effect of punishment.According to the research conclusions,the author puts forward suggestions on the educational punishment implementation in middle schools from the perspectives of concept,system,management and practice,the main contents are as follows: Firstly,create an educational atmosphere and legal space full of inclusive and trusting to promote the transformation of educational punishment concept.Secondly,the system of discipline should be improved from the school regulations,class rules and cooperation between parents and school,so as to provide a favorable environment for the law-based educational punishment.Thirdly,strengthen the management of teachers’ behavior,regulate the boundary,method and measurement of disciplinary power.Finally,teachers should constantly make their punishment skill artistic and integrate their emotional care and love when they take disciplinary action.
