| For more than 100 years, building blocks,as the basic configuration of kindergartens, have played a positive role in preschool children’s learning and development. However, with the development of the times, the promotion of moderate competition and innovative ability in talent cultivation requires some breakthroughs in traditional building block play, and the emergence of competitive block toys,so competitive block game has potential educational value.Competition occurs in peer interaction, divided into individual competition and group competition, which is one of the basic forms of social interaction.Competitive building block game is a game in which competition forms are integrated into building block games. It requires children to compete on the premise of abiding by the rules together. This cooperative game form in competition is beneficial to the social development of children. In competitive situations,in order to win, children will use different interaction strategies. What are the characteristics of children’s peer interaction strategies in competitive building block games? What is the difference compared with cooperative block games? Is there any difference between individual competition and group competition in block games? How should competitive forms be introduced into kindergarten building block activities?Focusing on these problems, this study selects large-class children as the research object, and comprehensively uses observation, case study and interview method to collect data.In the first part, children’s strategies in competitive block game is analyzed from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives. In the analysis process, through contrasting with the individual competitive, group competitive and cooperative block games, the author summarized the characteristics and influencing factors of children’s use of peer interaction strategies and emotional adjustment strategies in the competitive block game and to answer the question whether competitive building block games are suitable for children from the characteristics and changes of children’s interaction strategies; The second research belongs to exploratory research, which regards children as creators and practitioners of games, tries to create competitive building block game rules belonging to children by reviewing five processes of competitive building block game rules, evaluation rules, modification rules, creation rules, game testing and reflection, and provides a new idea of introducing competitive forms into kindergarten building block activities from children’s perspective. The research shows that: Firstly, competitive building block games provide children with more opportunities to interact with peers, which is an effective way to promote children’s social development.Specifically, the frequency of children’s prosocial strategies is equal to that of cooperative block games, and it accounts for the largest proportion of peer interaction strategies. The frequency of using compulsory strategies is significantly less than that of cooperative block games, and the frequency of children using general strategies in individual competitive building block games is significantly higher than that of cooperative block games. With the increase of the number of games, the frequency of using prosocial strategies, general strategies and compulsory strategies is on the rise.Secondly, the characteristics of competitive building block games and children’s social cognitive ability are the important factors that influence the use of peer interaction strategies. The limited resources, rules constraint and constructive characteristics of competitive building block games affect children’s strong motivation to win and maintain harmonious peer relationship, and imitate learning in interaction promotes the changes of strategies, including positive and negative changes. What’s more, attention should be paid to the phenomenon of imitation cheating in competitive block games.Children choose to violate the rules in order to achieve a certain purpose.Without teacher intervention, children’s cheating behavior is strengthened. Finally,it is also found that children,as the leader of the game, have the ability to create competitive building block game rules that are both playable and challenging.According to the research results, the researchers put forward the following suggestions on how to use competitive building block games to promote children’s social development and how to organically integrate competition forms with kindergarten activities: changing ideas and advocating moderate competition;combinating multivariatly, create more opportunities for peer learning;viewing dialectically, choose the form of competition according to children’s personality and needs;Integrating clearly, encourage children to create their own competitive building block game rules. |
