| Rumination is a reaction mode in which individuals repeatedly think about the causes and consequences of negative events leading to depression,despair and other negative emotions,which has an important impact on college students’ studies and life.Forgiveness,as a positive psychological quality,can effectively deal with negative events and make the offended give up revenge and punish the offender after being hurt.The improvement of forgiveness level is conducive to maintaining a good interpersonal relationships among college students.Therefore,this study investigated the characteristics of rumination and its effect on forgiveness in college students,and examined the mechanism of rumination with ego depletion as the mediating variable and resilience as the moderating variable.In this study,1122 college students were enrolled.The Rumination Scale developed by Nolen-Hoeksema et al.,Heartland Forgiveness Scale developed by Thopso et al.,the Self Depletion Scale developed by Lin and Johnson,and Psychological Resilience Scale revised by Yu Xiaonan and Zhang Jianxin were used as research tools.Statistical analysis methods such as descriptive statistics,independent sample T-test,correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze and process the data,and the following results were obtained:1.Ruminant thinking of college students is at the lower level;There is a significant difference in gender,and the score of girls is significantly higher than that of boys.There was no significant difference in origin,only child and grade.2.College students’ forgiveness is above average;There is significant difference in gender,the score of girls is significantly higher than that of boys.There are significant differences in the source of students,the scores of rural students are significantly higher than those of urban students.There is a significant difference in the score of the only-child,the score of the non-only-child is higher than that of the only-child,and there is no significant difference in grade.3.College students’ self-depletion is at the lower level;There was no significant difference in gender,place of origin,only child or not and grade.4.College students’ psychological resilience is at a high level;The total mental resilience score of males was higher than that of females.There is no significant difference in the total score of mental resilience in the source land,but there is a significant difference in the optimism dimension of mental resilience.In the dimension of only child,there is no significant difference in the total score of mental resilience,but there is a significant difference in the optimism dimension of mental resilience,the only child has a higher level of optimism;There were no significant differences in grade.5.Rumination,forgiveness,ego depletion and resilience are correlated.Rumination has a negative predictive effect on forgiveness,rumination has a positive predictive effect on ego depletion,ego depletion has a negative predictive effect on forgiveness,and resilience has a positive predictive effect on forgiveness.6.Rumination plays a partially mediating role in the influence of self-depletion on forgiveness,and the partially mediating effect is significant.7.Psychological resilience plays a moderating role in the effect of self-depletion on forgiveness,and the moderating effect is significant8.In the mediation model with ego depletion as the mediator,rumination as the independent variable,and forgiveness as the dependent variable,the level of resilience of college students has a significant moderating effect on forgiveness in ego depletion.These results suggest that rumination can influence the level of forgiveness through influencing the degree of self-depletion,and psychological resilience plays a moderating role in the influence of self-depletion on forgiveness.Based on the above conclusions,this study further emphasizes that the level of forgiveness of college students can be improved from the perspective of intervention of rumination,ego depletion and psychological resilience. |
