Academic burnout refers to the various negative attitudes and alienation behaviors that students appear in their studies.The Survey Report on the Status of Left-behind Children in Rural China in 2019 shows that more than 20% of left-behind children in rural areas have poor self-rated academic performance,80% have experienced declines in performance,have many poor learning behaviors,and have a high proportion of unfinished homework,late for school,and truancy.As an important subject in the rural education system,left-behind children in rural areas cannot ignore their academic burnout.In the same year,the National Research Report on Internet Usage by Minors also pointed out that the Internet penetration rate of left-behind children was as high as 77.7%,and mobile phones were the most used Internet tool."Touch the Internet" has a younger age,a long time online,and the preference for games in mobile phone use is obvious.The research is based on the background of a powerful education country,starting from the increasingly prominent problems of left-behind children’s academic burnout and mobile phone dependence in rural left-behind children,trying to join the growing period of loneliness of forced separation from their parents,to jointly explore the effect of mobile phone dependence on academic burnout of rural left-behind children influences.The study selected 312 primary and secondary school students(including 203 left-behind children)in L town,where there are many left-behind children in Yongxiu County,as the research object.A series of reliable and valid scales were used for questionnaire surveys and statistical analysis of the collected research data.With model testing,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)Rural left-behind children’s academic burnout,except for the low-achievement dimension which is slightly lower than the theoretical median,the total scores of academic burnout,physical and mental exhaustion,and academic alienation average scores all exceed the theoretical median.The proportion of people whose average score of academic alienation is higher than the theoretical median is 43.42%,and the proportion of people whose total score of academic burnout is higher than the theoretical median has exceeded1/4 of the sample number.Rural left-behind children generally have a moderately high level of academic burnout.(2)There are significant differences in academic burnout between rural left-behind children and non-left-behind children.The specific performance is as follows: The total scores of the left-behind children in rural areas and the dimension of academic alienation are significantly higher than those of non-left-behind children at the level of p<0.05.(3)At the level of p<0.001,left-behind children in elementary school are significantly higher than junior high school students in physical and mental exhaustion,academic alienation and low sense of accomplishment.The total score of academic burnout is also significantly different at p<0.05.(4)In terms of gender,rural left-behind girls are only significantly higher than boys in terms of the total score of academic burnout and academic alienation(p<0.05),and there is no significant difference in other dimensions.(5)Mobile phone dependence of left-behind children in rural areas can significantly and positively predict their academic burnout.Specifically,mobile phone dependence and its various dimensions can positively predict academic burnout,physical and mental exhaustion,academic alienation,and low sense of accomplishment.(6)Loneliness plays a partial mediating role in the impact of mobile phone dependence on school burnout of left-behind children in rural areas.The mediating effect is 0.3105,accounting for 56.66% of the total effect.In accordance with the research conclusions on the relationship between rural leftbehind children’s academic burnout and mobile phone dependence and loneliness,this article proposes several educational suggestions from the perspectives of schools,families and students,in order to form a joint effort to jointly prevent and reduce rural left-behind children’s academic burnout.The purpose of promoting its physical and mental health development. |
