Action Research On STEM Instructional Design In Primary Schools

Abstract/Summary:
STEM is the fusion of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.STEM education is crucial to cultivating scientific and technological talents and ensuring economic and social competitiveness,and many primary and middle schools have introduced STEM courses.STEM education emphasizes students’ subject status,stimulates students’ ability to discover problems,solves problems with interdisciplinary knowledge,and cultivates students’ ability to innovate,solve practical problems through the method of tasks and problems.This research on STEM teaching design includes four links:teaching planning,teaching implementation,teaching evaluation and teaching reflection.First of all,the planning and design of the whole teaching,then to implement the research object,carry out teaching,and then randomly at the end of the current teaching interview some students,to test whether students grasp some knowledge points,finally by the teacher in class to analyze the performance of the students in class and the interview results,found the bright spots and problems in teaching,Combine the bright spot and the question to propose the concrete improvement measure,prepares for the next round of teaching.According to these four steps,the author designed "Speed Control Windmill",and carried out two rounds of iterative research.In the process of designing two rounds of teaching,it is found that the careful design of STEM teaching can improve students’ comprehensive ability to a certain extent.Can effectively stimulate students’ interest in learning,It can better improve students’ ability of inquiry and scientific literacy,It can better reflect students’ subjectivity.STEM instructional design also has some problems.First,STEM instructional design is not close enough to students’ real life.Second,the integration of STEM disciplines is not enough;Third,STEM teaching evaluation is not comprehensive enough;Fourth,teachers’ guidance in STEM teaching is not enough.In view of the above problems in STEM teaching design,the author puts forward the following four suggestions: STEM teaching content should be combined with students’ real life;STEM teaching should integrate knowledge of various disciplines;STEM teaching design should carry out diversified assessment and strengthen the guidance of teachers is the key to improve students’ learning.
