| With the development of information society and the rapid popularization of smart phones,the number of Internet users has been increasing year by year.The phenomenon of mobile phone addiction among college students has attracted more and more attention from all walks of life.Cell phone addiction is not only an important factor affecting individual physical and mental health,but also a warning sign to prevent the further deterioration of individual physical and mental problems.It is particularly important to deeply discuss and understand the formation mechanism of mobile phone addiction which can effectively cope with mobile phone addiction and its adverse effects in the future.By combing relevant theories and existing literature,this study discusses the relationship among self-concealment,self-esteem,psychological pressure and mobile phone addiction,providing more empirical support for improving college students’ mental health.A sample of 806 college students from freshmen to seniors in a university in Tianjin was taken by convenience sampling.Self-Concealment Scale(SCS),Self-Esteem Scale(SES),Psychological Stress Feeling Scale(PSFS)and Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale(MPATS)were used for testing.Research findings:(1)Male college students are significantly higher than female college students in self-concealment score,individual pressure and social environment pressure except academic psychological pressure.(2)The scores of self-concealment and love psychological pressure were significantly higher than those of non-only-child students.(3)The total self-esteem score,negative self-esteem score and positive self-esteem score of urban college students were significantly higher than those of rural college students,and the scores of family psychological pressure score,interpersonal psychological pressure score,career psychological pressure score,health psychological pressure score and total psychological pressure score were significantly lower than those of rural college students.(4)The scores of mobile phone addiction and psychological stress of the freshmen were significantly lower than those of other grades,and their total self-esteem scores,negative self-esteem scores and positive self-esteem scores were significantly higher than those of second-year and third-year students.The negative self-esteem scores and total self-esteem scores of freshmen were significantly higher than those of sophomores and junior students.(5)The scores of self-concealment,psychological pressure and various dimensions in the addiction group were significantly higher than those in the non-addiction group.The scores of self-esteem,negative self-esteem and positive self-esteem were lower than those of the non-addictive group.(6)College students’ self-concealment score,psychological stress score and mobile phone addiction score showed significant pairwise positive correlation,and total self-esteem score,negative self-esteem score and positive self-esteem score showed significant negative correlation.(7)Both negative self-esteem and psychological stress can significantly predict college students’ mobile phone addiction.(8)Self-concealment,negative self-esteem and psychological pressure play a part in mediating between self-concealment and mobile phone addiction.(9)Self-esteem,positive self-esteem and negative self-esteem can all play a chain mediating role between self-concealment and mobile phone addiction and psychological pressure. |
