| The Internet has broken the geographical boundaries of information dissemination and reduced the cost of information dissemination, bringing great convenience to people’s production and life, but with the deep development of the Internet, the negative effects it brings to people are also gradually highlighted.Along with the increasingly large amount of data and information, information anxiety is becoming more and more common among users, and information avoidance behaviors are occurring more and more frequently among users. This phenomenon is also more common in the process of academic information activities of college students.Academic information avoidance behavior may make college students miss useful academic information and lead to the closure of their research ideas, making it difficult to discover innovative points of research, which undoubtedly increases the cost of college students’ academic research. It is of great significance to explore the influencing factors and the mechanism of action of college students’ online academic information avoidance behavior to improve the efficiency of academic information activities.Through combing previous research results on information avoidance behavior,I found that most of the current literature directly links information avoidance behavior with external factors and users’ internal states, and lacks research on the relationship between external stimulus factors and users’ internal states, while information avoidance behavior is what users turn into information behavior after psychological changes under the stimulus of external environment. Therefore, this paper takes S-O-R theory as the entry point to explore college students’ online academic information avoidance behavior and establish a model of factors influencing college students’ online academic information avoidance behavior.Firstly, based on the research results of previous scholars and combining the characteristics of online academic information, the author introduced information quality, information access difficulty, information overload,database/search engine quality, time pressure, perceived usefulness of avoidance and information anxiety into the model of factors influencing college students’ online academic information avoidance behavior.Second, the author referred to the well-established scales of Davis and Cathy C and other scholars, and combined them with the themes of college students’ online academic information avoidance behaviors to design a questionnaire that fits this study. The questionnaire was modified on the basis of the pre-study to form a formal questionnaire.Again,SPSS and AMOS software were used to conduct reliability analysis, validity analysis and hypothesis testing on the collected questionnaire samples, and the results showed that the effects of information quality, information access difficulty, information overload,database/search engine quality, time pressure, perceived usefulness of avoidance and information anxiety on college students’ academic information avoidance behaviors were significant, and the effects of perceived usefulness of avoidance on information access difficulty, database The mediating effect of perceived usefulness of avoidance on information access difficulty,database/search engine quality and online academic information avoidance behavior was not significant. Finally, based on the research findings, the author proposes countermeasures in four aspects: improving information quality, reducing information access difficulty, improving information retrieval matching and cultivating users’ information literacy, hoping to provide reference for college students to improve academic research efficiency and reduce academic research costs. |
