Exploring Influencing Factors About Academic Information Avoidance Behavior Of Young Researchers In Universities

With the rapid development of mobile Internet and digital products,people can obtain and use information anytime and anywhere.However,the explosive growth of information increases the difficulty for people to obtain useful information,which may lead to information avoidance.Although the academic circles have studied health information avoidance,social information avoidance and academic information avoidance behavior,the relevant theoretical and empirical research still needs to be improved.Exploring academic information avoidance behavior can promote the development of relevant theories and technological innovation.This paper interviewed 36 young researchers in universities,encoded the data based on grounded theory,and then constructed a theoretical model of influencing factors of academic information avoidance behavior based on "Stressor-StrainOutcome" theory.Finally,244 valid questionnaires were collected and analyzed based on fsQCA and cognitive dissonance theory.The results are as follows:(1)Based on the grounded theory,95 initial concepts and 27 initial categories are extracted and summarized into 9 main categories.Information characteristics,information utility,task-driven,environmental factors,scientific research platform and academic information literacy are pressure sources,and academic information avoidance behavior is indirectly affected by psychological and cognitive factors.Psychological emotion and cognitive factors directly affect academic information avoidance behavior.Time pressure regulates the influence of cognitive factors and psychological emotions on academic information avoidance behavior.(2)The fsQCA configuration analysis was carried out with seven influencing factors of academic academic information overload,information independence,research task difficulty,time pressure,academic information literacy,negative emotions and cognitive dissonance as the antecedent conditions,and four paths were obtained.Academic information overload,information independence,research task difficulty,time pressure and cognitive dissonance are necessary conditions for academic information avoidance behavior.According to the typical path found:①Information independence and cognitive dissonance are the core conditions in configuration.Academic information literacy and negative emotions are sufficient conditions for academic information avoidance behavior.② Academic information overload,research task difficulty and time pressure are auxiliary factors for academic information avoidance behavior,and they work together with core conditions on academic information avoidance behavior.This paper has re-examined the influence of individual conditions on the results,enriched the theoretical basis in the field of information avoidance behavior,and also provided suggestions for researchers,information service institutions and scientific research management departments in universities.This paper has put forward countermeasures from the aspects of academic information overload,information independence,scientific research task,time pressure and cognitive imbalance,so as to provide reference for scientific researchers to reasonably deal with academic information avoidance,indicate the direction for information service agencies to carry out scientific research services,and provide a new perspective for university scientific research management departments to optimize scientific research performance.
