| Self-face recognition is an important part of the self-perception system and is also used as an indicator of individual self-awareness.Therefore,many studies have found that people can always recognize their faces quickly and accurately relative to other people’s faces. This phenomenon is called the self-face dominance effect. However, some studies have found that this effect is not stable and will be affected by some factors. Then, will the psychological components closely related to the self-affect self-face recognition? There are few studies on this issue. Therefore, this study introduces the internal psychological component of self-evaluation as a new factor affecting self-face recognition,in order to explore whether self-evaluation has an impact on self-face recognition. Therefore, this study selected teenagers and adults as subjects, and designed the following three experiments from the perspective of individual development to explore the relationship between self-evaluation and self-face recognition:Experiment 1a used the face orientation judgment paradigm to verify whether selfevaluation is related to self-face recognition.First, adolescents and adults were tested through questionnaires, and the high and low self-evaluation groups were screened out respectively, and then the subjects were asked to judge the orientation of self, familiar and unfamiliar faces. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the response time of adolescents in the high and low self-evaluation group on the three types of faces;while adults in the high self-evaluation group responded to their own faces less than familiar and unfamiliar faces, and adults in the low self-evaluation group had no significant difference in the response time of the three types of faces. In order to ensure that the self-evaluation status(high and low)of the subjects when participating in the face experiment is consistent with that when filling out the scale, experiment 1b immediately started the adolescents and adults in the high and low self-evaluation group respectively before the experiment, and the subjects in the low self-evaluation group were negative Start, the subjects in the high self-evaluation group were actively started, and then the subjects were immediately asked to participate in the same face orientation judgment task as in experiment 1a.The results show that there is still no significant difference in the response time of adolescents in the negative Start and actively Start group on the three types of faces. However, adults in the actively Start group responded significantly less to self-faces than familiar and unfamiliar faces, there was no significant difference in the actively Start group between the self faces and other two types of adult faces.Since the results of experiment 1 show that only adult self-evaluation is related to self-face recognition. Therefore, experiment 2 only conducts further research whether the level of adult self-evaluation can be changed to affect self-face recognition to explore whether the two are causal.First, the subjects were randomly divided into 2groups,and the self-evaluation level of the subjects was changed through social threat situations and self-affirmation interventions, and then the subjects were asked to participate in the face orientation judgment task of the same experiment 1a to investigate whether the change in self-evaluation level will affect self-face recognition. The results show that the subjects in the threat affirmation group are more willing to accept self-degradation(lower self-evaluation),and the self-face response is slower;the subjects in the threat affirmation group showed self-improvement(higher selfevaluation),and the response to self-face is the fastest. To sum up,the three experiments concluded that: for young people,no matter the level of self-evaluation,teenagers did not have the advantage of self-face recognition; For adult subjects, the self-evaluation of adults affected self-face recognition, and the high self-evaluation group had the advantage of self-face recognition. This conclusion understands the influence of internal psychological components on the self-perception system from the perspective of face recognition, and it is of great enlightening significance for educators to see and use the development laws of young people to formulate reasonable educational strategies. |
