The construction of Chinese curriculum is an important form of mother tongue education,and the compilation and popularization of textbooks is an important component of the construction of Chinese curriculum.The study of Primary School Chinese textbooks in different periods is helpful to understand the teaching contents,teaching methods and educational thoughts.The period of the Republic of China is an important stage in the transformation and development of Chinese education in our country,the Primary School Chinese textbook of this period is the most direct and clear witness of the history.The research about Chinese textbooks in the Republic of China’s elementary school is not only helpful to understand the situation of the compilation of Chinese textbooks in primary schools in the Republic of China,but also provides some reference value for the compilation of Chinese textbooks in primary schools.Based on the 1923 Mandarin Curriculum Outline for primary schools,the New Eductional System Mandarin Textbook is edited by Wu Yanyin,who is a firm supporter of the literalization of the vernacular and mandarin textbooks and has also edited the Mandarin Curriculum Outline for primary schools.From this point of view,the New Eductional System Mandarin Textbook is a typical case in the study of life orientation of the Primary School Chinese textbook’s compilation.There are five main parts to the study:The first part expounds the background,purport and literature review of the study,sorts out the previous studies,clarifies the connotation of the core concept of life orientation,and explains that it is the common product of cultural convergence and the change of the Times.The second part analyzes the internal idea of the education thought under the new system curriculum reform and the Chinese education reform in the 1920 s.The reform of school system,curriculum and textbook under the influence of the European and American educational thoughts,especially the pragmatism educational thoughts,endows the mandarin textbook with two remarkable characteristics: 1.Textbook Language has realized the discourse transformation from classical Chinese to vernacular Chinese.2.The compilation of textbooks is gradually changing from aiming at "knowledge-based" to "ability-standard".The third part is the exploration of the outline of the publication of the New Eductional System Mandarin Textbook,tracing the motive of the publication of the textbook based on historical facts,and exploring the cause of the formation of the life orientation of the textbook compilation,at that time,the textbook review system,the active practice of the publisher and the educational thoughts of the editor all promoted the formation of the life orientation.The fourth part analyzes the life orientation of the New Eductional System Mandarin Textbook on the basis of the construction of the life orientation analysis framework from the language features,genre,subject,illustration and arrangement of the text.In general,the content of the textbook comes from the real life of children.The presentation of the textbook language,the selection and layout of the pictures and text emphasize the children’s experience life.The textbook aims at making children receive better education,to be better prepared for social life.The fifth part talks about the experience of life orientation in textbook compilation.Although influenced by the limitation of the historical background,textbook compilation has the defects of over-reflecting life orientation and non-standard language,but it also provides the reference significance for the establishment of the idea,the choice of the content and the adjustment of the aim of the contemporary textbook’s compilation. |
