| The advent of the Science and Technology Revolution 4.0 era has profoundly changed the form of economic development,industrial structure and mode of production worldwide To achieve a series of strategic goals,such as taking a new path of industrialization with Chinese characteristics,building an innovation-oriented country,and building a nation of talents,China needs to cultivate and bring up top-notch innovative talents in the fields of science,technology and engineering and a large number of applied and compound talents.With the development of economy and the need of national strategy,the society has a new demand for the quality reform of science and engineering colleges.As an educational concept based on learning output,the Concept of OBE pays attention to the achievement of students’ expected goals and the cultivation of students’ personal abilities and learning outcomes,which can meet the needs of the rapid developing economic situation and China’s innovation-driven strategy.Under this background,it is of great theoretical value and practical significance to carry out the research on the path of improving the quality of higher education in science and engineering institutions based on the Concept of OBE.Based on the new demand of national strategic development,the new situation of international competition and the new requirement of moral education,China put forward the concept of "New Engineering" in 2016.The proposal of this concept not only points out the direction of China’s engineering education reform,but also puts forward new requirements for the development of China’s science and engineering universities and the improvement of education quality.The new development environment,new development opportunities and new development requirements inevitably require new and reasonable development concepts to guide the current reform.The Concept of OBE has been accepted and used for reference by many countries for its appropriateness of higher engineering education reform.Based on the Concept of OBE,this paper analyzes the Concept of OBE to highlight its advantages by comparing it with the traditional educational concept.Combined with the new requirements of social development on the development of science and engineering universities under the background of "new engineering",this paper summarizes the problems faced by science and engineering universities in China at present.Secondly,by analyzing the course system of "Olin Triangle" based on the Concept of OBE of American Olin Institute of Technology and the teaching mode of "cooperative education" based on the Concept of OBE of University of Waterloo in Canada,the enlightenment of course construction and teaching method is obtained.Finally,based on the Concept of OBE,this paper puts forward some constructive suggestions for improving the educational quality of science and engineering colleges and universities in China from the following aspects: training objectives,curriculum system construction,specialty setting,teaching methods and professional certification of engineering education.The implementation principle of the Concept of OBE of "clear focus,expanding opportunities,raising expectations and reverse design" is in line with the connotation of the new engineering concept of "cultivating people with morality" and "coping with changes and shaping the future",which can effectively guide the educational reform and improve the quality of education in China’s science and engineering colleges and universities. |
