Rently,with the gradual advancement of the reform of the new college entrance examination,greater importance has been attached to the career development of high school students.Relevant policies have been issued successively from the country to the localities,emphasizing the urgency and importance of career education in the middle school.Career maturity is a core concept used to measure the individual’s readiness for career development.Carrying out the study on the career maturity of high school students under the background of new college entrance examination reform can not only promote individuals to explore self and career,but also provide a theoretical basis and empirical support for the career education of high school students.Based on social cognitive career theory,this study explored the relationship among career social support,self-supporting personality and high school students’ career maturity,and designed a group career counseling program to intervene in students’ career social support according to the results of Study 1,aiming to provide reference for the career education of high school students.This study consists of two parts: Study 1 used Career Maturity Inventory,Career Social Support Scale and Self-Supporting Personality Scale of Adolescent Students to conduct a questionnaire survey of 540 students in 2 high schools and examined the characteristics of career maturity,career social support and self-supporting personality as well as the internal relationship among the three.Study 2 carried out an intervention research on the career social support of high school students,exploring programs to improve their career maturity,and providing suggestions and countermeasures for the career development of high school students.The study shows as follows:(1)The level of high school students’ career maturity is relatively low.Furthermore,there was significant imbalance across dimensions.(2)The differences of the high school students’ career maturity are significant in terms of types of school,grades and parents’ education levels.There are significant differences between individuals with different levels of career social support and self-supporting personality.Career maturity shows an upward trend from the low-level group to the high-level group.(3)Career social support,self-supporting personality and career maturity have significant positive correlations.Career social support and self-supporting personality can positively predict the career maturity of high school students.(4)After intervention,students in the experimental class have significantly improved their career social support and career maturity compared with the control class,which means class group career counseling has a good intervention effect.The research results can show that providing sufficient career social support and cultivating high school students’ self-supporting personality help to improve their career maturity.The research conclusions have positive enlightenment value for helping individuals improve career maturity and guiding high school students’ career education.
