With the rapid development of modern information technology,mobile phones are becoming more intelligent,convenient and popular,reaching all aspects of people’s lives.There is no doubt that middle school students sometimes use mobile phones for interactive communication,access to information,leisure and relaxation.But because they are in the stage of learning,their cognitive ability and self-control ability is not yet mature,at the same time,they have high academic pressure,single lifestyle and limited ways to relieve the pressure,so we can see that the phenomenon of middle school students’ mobile phone dependence is becoming increasingly common and more serious.As an educational researcher,if we can find the formation mechanism,influencing factors and intervention methods of middle school students’ mobile phone dependence,it will contribute very good theoretical significance and educational guidance value.According to existing research,there are many factors that affect middle school students’ mobile phone dependence.Objectively speaking,the school’s education system,competitive environment,and other people’s expectations for students may all cause greater academic pressure on students.A large number of studies have shown that high academic pressure will cause individuals to produce many physical and mental disorders and problem behaviors,such as behavioral addiction.Therefore,the academic pressure of middle school students may make it easier to form mobile phone dependence.How does academic pressure affect mobile phone dependence?Through literature research,I found that as a process of individual self-regulation,effortful control is an important protective factor for individual psychosocial adaptation.However,when a person is under more pressure,his ability of effortful control will decline,making it more prone to negative thoughts and impulsive behaviors.As is known,an important reason for mobile phone dependence is that one’s self-control ability is low.Therefore,effortful control may play a mediating role between students’ academic pressure and mobile phone dependence.On the basis of consulting and sorting out existing related research on academic stress,effortful control and mobile phone dependence,and making a literature review,I conducted a questionnaire survey of junior high school students to understand their current academic pressure,effortful control and mobile phone dependence;discussed the demographic differences of these three variables;investigated the relationship between academic pressure and mobile phone dependence,and the mediating role of effortful control in the above relationship;and on the basis of grasping the mechanism of the influence of academic pressure on mobile phone dependence,designed and implemented a group counseling to intervene.Specifically,it includes two studies.In study 1,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 850 students in a junior high school in Hubei Province to investigate their academic pressure,effortful control,and mobile phone dependence,date were collected and analyzed with SPSS23.0 and SPSS PROCESS.The results of the survey showed that:(1)There is a certain degree of mobile phone dependence and excessive academic pressure among junior high school students,the detection rate of mobile phone dependence is 18.25%;(2)The level of effortful control of junior high school students is significantly different in gender,and the level of effortful control of boys is significantly higher than that of girls;(3)There are significant differences in the level of academic stress of junior high school students,the academic stress of grade 9 is significantly higher than that of grades 7 and 8;(4)The mediating effect of effortful control on the effect of academic stress on mobile phone dependence is sign ificant,accounting for 34.62%of the total effect.Based on the findings of study 1,study 2 designed and implemented a group counseling with the theme of improving one’s level of effortful control,and then used the method of pre-test and post-test comparison between the experimental group and the control group to test,aims to examine the role of group counseling in improving the level of effortful control of junior high school students and reducing their dependence on mobile phones.The experimental results show that:group counseling can significantly improve the level of junior high school students’ effortful control,and can further reduce their dependence on mobile phones.
