With the popularization and development of the Internet, smartphones have become an indispensable necessity in our daily lives. In recent years, the issue of mobile phone dependence has become increasingly common, and even shows a trend of younger age.Middle school is a critical period for students’ personality and psychological development, and excessive reliance on mobile phones can have a negative impact on their physical and mental health.Previous studies have shown that both self-acceptance level and loneliness level can have an impact on mobile phone dependence.Based on this, this study will further explore the relationship between self-acceptance,loneliness,and mobile phone dependence, and attempt to intervene in self-acceptance as a starting point to carry out group psychological counseling to help middle school students overcome the problem of mobile phone dependence, providing reference solution for intervention in mobile phone dependence. This study is divided into two parts:Study 1: 660 junior middle school students in Longyan,Fujian Province were investigated with Self Acceptance Questionnaire(SAQ),Loneliness Scale,Univesity of California at Los Angels(UCLA)and Mobile Phone Addiction Index(MPAI),and 620 valid questionnaires were collected,to explore the difference and relationship of Demographics variables among selfacceptance, loneliness and cell phone dependence.Study 2: Using group counseling intervention method,a total of 24 junior high school students with a total score of mobile phone dependence ≥51 points(moderate to severe mobile phone dependence)and a total score of loneliness ≥40 points(medium to high loneliness)and a willingness to change were selected from Study 1.They were randomly assigned to an intervention group and a control group, with 12 students in each group. The intervention group adopted a cognitive and behavioral group counseling program with a focus on improving selfacceptance, and received 8 group psychological counseling sessions, each lasting about 1 hour. The control group did not receive any intervention to test whether the program could improve the self-acceptance level of middle school students and reduce their dependence on mobile phones. The research results are as follows:(1)The detection rate of mobile phone dependence among middle school students is67.74%,indicating a relatively serious tendency towards mobile phone dependence; The average score of loneliness among middle school students is 46.26,and they face the problem of strong loneliness.(2)Middle school students have significant differences in mobile phone dependence, selfacceptance, and loneliness among grades. In terms of mobile phone dependence, the score of the first grade of junior high school is significantly lower than that of other grades; In terms of self-acceptance,the score of the third grade is significantly lower than that of other grades; In terms of loneliness, the score of the first grade of junior high school is significantly lower than that of other grades. There is a significant difference in the sense of loneliness among junior high school students in their source areas, with urban scores significantly lower than those in rural areas.Other Demography variables have no significant difference.(3)Self-acceptance is negatively correlated with the total score and various dimensions of mobile phone dependence(r=-0.27,p <0.05);Loneliness is positively correlated with the total score and various dimensions of mobile phone dependence(r= 0.40,p <0.05);There is a significant negative correlation between self-acceptance and loneliness(r=-0.34,p <0.05).(4)The mesomeric effect value of the path of self-acceptance——loneliness——mobile phone dependence is-0.22,which can explain 44% of the total effect.Loneliness has a partial mesomeric effect in the relationship between self-acceptance and mobile phone dependence.(5)Cognitive behavior group counseling can improve the self-acceptance level of middle school students, while also reducing their loneliness level to a certain extent, thereby alleviating their dependence on mobile phones.Based on the above research results, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Loneliness can positively predict cell phone dependence, and self-acceptance can negatively predict cell phone dependence. There is a significant negative correlation between self-acceptance and loneliness.(2)Loneliness plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between self-acceptance and mobile phone dependence.(3)Middle school students with lower levels of self-acceptance are more likely to experience loneliness, which in turn leads to phone dependence.Interventions in selfacceptance can effectively prevent and reduce mobile phone dependence.(4)Cognitive behavior group counseling has a significant intervention effect on middle school students with moderate to severe phone dependence and moderate to high loneliness, which can effectively help them improve self-acceptance,reduce loneliness and phone dependence.
