With the processing of education reformation,the parents have gradually realized the importance of family education for the healthy growth of young people.Due to the lack of scientific knowledge and method,the parents often feel powerless in family education.As a consequence,the school should play the role of the main position in family education,and assume the duty of providing family education and guidance to the parents.However,it is not optimistic about the current situation of family education in the schools.The content and the form of family education have a great impact on the quality of family education and guidance.How the family education and guidance work should be done has attracted the researchers’ attention.This study selects S Middle School in Y City,Shanxi Province as a case.Through the methods of questionnaires,interviews,and case studies,the author investigates the current situation of S middle school’s family education.The statistical analysis of the collected data reveals that the current family education exists abundant problems.This study analyzes the reasons for the existing problems and designs the optimization strategies for the school’s family education and guidance work.This study mainly consists of six parts.The first part is the introduction.From the perspectives of the country,parents and students,we clarify the core concepts of family education,family education guidance,and schools instructing family education,and then put forward the research purpose and significance of this study.The second part is the related works.This study conducts the existing literature from five aspects:the policy of family education guidance,the research of family education instructors,the content and form of family education guidance,the research of schools instructing family education,and the research review.The third part is the research design.In this part,we first describe the basic information of this case.Then we propose the research questions and elaborate the research methods and implementation.The fourth part is the improvement measures of the present situation.From the basic information of the survey objects,we analyze the family education guidance and the development of the school’s family education guidance work.The collected data are analyzed by statistical to find out the problems that are existing in the school family education guidance work.The fifth part is the factor analysis.This part reveals the problems of the school’s family education and guidance work.The family education and guidance work confronts the drawbacks of unitary form,lacking content,one-sided form,and unbalanced between the supply and the demand.Through the analysis,the main reasons for the problems of school family education guidance are summarized as follows:out-of-date parent education concept,weak sense of responsibility,lack of subjectivity and enthusiasm,insufficient teacher guidance ability,insufficient energy,insufficient school awareness,and imperfect management mechanism.The sixth part is about the improvement strategies.This part proposes the improvement strategies for different objectives:for the parent,they need to participate in school activities and management,change traditional education concepts,and understand the school education correctly.The schools also need to understand the different needs of parents.For the teaches,they need to improve training and strengthen their ability to guide,improve the incentive mechanism to mobilize teachers’ enthusiasm for work,implement teaching burden reduction and promote professional development.For the schools,they need to strengthen publicity and guidance,increase investment of family education guidance,and improve institutional construction.Besides,they also need to clarify work responsibilities,formulate rules and regulations,and standardize organizational operations.At the government level,they should promote the construction of relevant policies and regulations,increase the corresponding investment and build a system to implement family education guidance.
