| The education idea of “student-centered” has drawn many attentions at home and abroad,and education is changing from teaching-centered to learning-centered.In order to deal with the practical demands of the educational mode reform of Chinese vocation education,this study focuses on student-centered teaching in vocational schools.Based on the student-centered education idea,the purpose of this study is to assess the current situation of student-centered teaching,summarize the effects and problems,and propose the feasible strategies to promote the development of studentcentered teaching in vocational schools.Firstly,in order to find the theory foundation and research tools,the research outcome at home and abroad was reviewed.The study of student-centered teaching has experienced the classic teaching mode which is based on the humanism learning theory,the modern teaching mode which is based on the student-centered psychology principle,and the contemporary teaching mode which is based on the constructivism learning theory.The connotation of student-centered teaching is also developing accordingly,from focusing on the self-realization and development of students to paying attention to students and their learning,and then to paying attention to the students,their learning and learning outcomes.In the process of research review,two scientific and reasonable research tools were found,namely Learner-Centered Battery(LCB)and Peer Assessment of Student Centered Learning(PASCL).Secondly,assessment scheme was designed and the assessment was conducted.In this study,a higher vocational school in Qingdao,which was carrying out the reform of student-centered teaching,was choosed to be conducted assessment.The interview method and questionnaire method were used to investigate the current situation in this vocational school.Then,result of assessement was analyzed and the effects as well as problems were summarized.Through analyzing the current situation in the views of students,teachers,student management and service staff,and school leaders,some problems were pointed,including: students are not clear about their responsibilities in the reform;the quality of student participation is relatively low;the transformation of learning outcomes is not satisfying;there are significant differences in the reform proceedings among different teachers;the learning atmosphere needs to be improved;the support services for teachers could not meet the demand;and the assurance system for teaching quality is not perfect.Finally,the promoting strategies were proposed for the existing problems.Based on the assessment idea of continuous improving,the feasible strategies to promote the development of student-centered teaching in vocational schools were proposed from five aspects,including educational idea,key teaching links,learning environment,support services for teachers,and assurance system for teaching quality. |
