Research On The Influencing Factors Of Inter-provincial Population Migration In China

Population migration is not only an important way for workers to pursue high-quality resources and seek better development,but also helps optimize resource allocation and improve overall economic efficiency.This paper focuses on the inter-provincial population migration in China,and studies the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of inter-provincial population migration.Studying the inter-provincial population migration has far-reaching significance for solving the rational allocation of labor and material resources between regions and promoting the stable development of the economy.Based on the statistics of the "birthplace law" in the 2000 and 2010 census data,this paper summarizes the characteristics of population migration in China.And under the framework of a modified gravity model,this paper studies the effects of the total population of each province,migration distance,economic development level,employment environment,education,language,culture,and geographical factors on population migration among provinces.The results show that distance promotes the labor to move between neighboring provinces.The level of economic development and the employment environment are important factors affecting population migration,and the population tends to migrate to areas with good economic conditions.Also,education can improve the mobility of the labor force,which is conducive to the inter-provincial migration of the population.And the dialect has negative impact on inter-provincial migration,where workers tend to move to locations with similar language and cultural background.On the contrary,the prevalence of using mandarin can eliminate the communication barriers of labor forces in different provinces.Finally,the conclusion is based on the results of empirical research,and some suggestions are put forward for the related government departments.
