In the migration trend of rural surplus labor to urban areas and non-agricultural sectors, the countercurrent phenomenon of labor return has always been existed. However, due to the small scale of reflow and the dispersion of the reflow direction, the research on reflux problems has been neglected. The returning labor force has realized the accumulation of human capital, economic capital, social capital and entrepreneurship in the process of migration. Are returners more inclined to engage in agricultural production or non-agricultural employment after returning to their hometown? Is capital accumulated in migration experience beneficial to their career transformation and career development, even to their local economic development?Based on the problems above, this paper takes the 2014 labor force survey data(CLDS)as an example to explore the impact of rural labor migration experience on non-agricultural employment tendencies after the reflux.Due to the heterogeneity of the labor force, this paper uses the method of propensity score matching(PSM)to match the sample labor.Through the measurement methods such as discrete selection models and average processing effect, the Stata statistical software is used to estimate the influence degree of rural labor migration experience on the non-agricultural employment tendency after returning to the countryside. Then take Robustness tests through subsample regression, time effect analysis,"non-agricultural employment" and placebo testing to estimate the credibility of results.Through empirical analysis,we found that the return experience is indeed conducive to the promotion of non-agricultural employment after the return, and the probability of the non-agricultural employment of the return labor is 6.5%to 7.4%higher than the resident labor.Non-agricultural employment tendencies are mainly reflected in wage employment, including wage employment and self-employed freelancers. There is no significant difference between the returning labor force and the resident labor force in starting a business. The article also found that there is a significant inverted U-shaped relationship between the length of return experience and the non-agricultural employment tendency. When the time of migrant work is more than 9.5 years, the probability of rural labor engaging in non-agricultural employment will decrease as the time of migrant work increases. In addition,non-agricultural employment opportunities and location traffic locations in the community have a significant positive impact both on the return labor and the resident labor to increase non-agricultural employment participation, which also inspires us to pay attention to rural areas to strengthen infrastructure construction and create more jobs to expand the backflow effect.Based on the research above, this paper proposes relevant policy recommendations.
