Objective:The purpose of this paper is to improve the physical activity level of the office population and analyze the relationship between the obesity degree and the daily average walking amount and effective walking amount by carrying out brisk walking intervention programs among the office population. To explore the effect of brisk walking on the improvement of overweight and obesity among office population; To explore the recommended amount of brisk walking that is suitable for overweight and obese office population. Methods:Based on the"Commitment to 10,000 Steps"brisk walking intervention project of encouraging occupational population launched by the Chronic Disease Center of China Center for Disease Control and Prevention in 2017,the complete data of 15,688 occupational population was obtained.A total of 21,939 people signed up for the project, respectively from national/local authorities,institutions,state-owned and private enterprises in China’s 6 provinces and 2 municipalities, participated in the100-day brisk walking intervention on a voluntary basis. The height, weight, body fat ratio and waist circumference of the subjects of the study were measured by unified instruments before and after the interference. The pedometer measured the total number of steps and the effective number of steps.Self-filling questionnaires were used to collect the basic personal information of the subjects, and then analyzed the effect of brisk walking on overweight and obesity.T-test,variance analysis, regression and ROC curve were used to analyze the relationship between walking and overweight/obesity.Results:In the 100-day brisk walking intervention program, the total number of steps on average is 14,425±3,485 steps per day,the effective number of steps is11,185±3,028 steps per day,the rate of 10,000 steps is 93.9±15.2%;Women’s step level(11,702±2,897)is significantly lower than that of men(12,086±3,199),but the walking efficiency(0.83±0.07)is higher than that of men(0.82±0.07);The level of walking(15,759±3714>14,808±3,325>13,635±3,215>12,968±3,296)is also high among the older(50~59、40~49、30~39、20~29 years old)office population; With BMI level Increased, the number of brisk walking steps increased to a certain extent. The effective steps of overweight group(12,074±3,093)and obesity group(12,002±3,124)were significantly higher than those of normal group(11,731±2,942)and lean group(11,101±3,233),P<0.05.After the 100-day intervention, the overall overweight rate and obesity rate of the office population decreased by 4.3%and 2.4%respectively.Obesity-related indexes decreased compared with those before walking(P<0.05):weight decreased by 1.4±2.4kg,BMI decreased by 0.5±0.9 kg/m~2,body fat rate decreased by 0.9±2.2%,waist circumference decreased by 1.8±4.7cm;And people with a high BMI showed a greater decline. There were differences in the reduction of obesity index among people with different effective steps. The higher the effective steps were, the greater the decrease was. With the increase of effective walking amount, the decrease of weight,BMI,BF%and waist circumference was more obvious. For every 1,000 steps increased daily, weight decreased by 0.061kg,BMI decreased by 0.023kg/m~2,BF%decreased by0.026%,and waist circumference decreased by 0.086cm.There were 6,924 overweight and obese office groups, among which the effective steps of those aged 30 to 59 had significant effects on weight reduction of 5%,BMI reduction of 1 kg/m~2 and waist circumference reduction of 4cm(P<0.05).The points of contact of daily effective number of steps whose weight decreased by 5%were11,896 for men aged 30 to 39,13,156 aged 40 to 49,and 13,447 aged 50 to 59;Females aged 30 to 39 were 12,626 and 40 to 49 were 12,583.The points of contact of the daily effective number of steps whose BMI decreased by 1 kg/m~2 were 11,883 for males aged30 to 39 and 12,162 aged 40 to 49;It was 11,134 for females aged 30 to 39 years old,12,560 aged 40 to 49 and 13644 aged 50 to 59.The points of contact of the effective number of steps whose waist circumference decreased by 4cm were 12,343 for the male aged from 30 to 39;12,345 aged 40 to 49;13,109 aged 50 to 59;It was 11,213 for females aged 30 to 39 and 12,367 aged 40 to 49.Conclusions:The number of walking steps of the office population participating in the 100-day brisk walking intervention project based on pedometer monitoring and motivation is related to their gender, age and body size. The 100-day brisk walking intervention can reduce the overall overweight and obesity rate in the office population. The related indexes of obesity included weight, body mass index, body fat rate and waist circumference, and the degree of decline is related to baseline BMI,and the effect of brisk walking on people of high BMI is more significant. The average daily total steps and the average daily effective steps of the office population have a certain degree of correlation with obesity-related indicators such as weight, body mass index, body fat rate and waist circumference. With the increase of the number of brisk walking steps, the decrease of weight,BMI,body fat rate and waist circumference increases. In the 100-day walking intervention program, for overweight and obese office population aged 30 to 59 years old,the appropriate effective walking amount to reduce their degree of obesity is 12,000 steps/day.
