| Women’s emancipation has been an important topic of common discussion and research worldwide since the Renaissance. In the course of studying the historical development of mankind,Marx and Engels used dialectical materialism and historical materialism to analyse the essence and inner laws of the women’s question and devoted themselves to providing directions and paths for women’s emancipation. As an important part of human emancipation, women’s emancipation is not only about women as a group, but also about the development of humanity as a whole, and the two are intrinsically unified. As an important part of Marxist thought on women’s emancipation,Engels’ thought on women’s emancipation is rich in content and comprehensive, with a systematic and scientific structure. The study of Engels’ thought on women’s emancipation is on the one hand conducive to grasping the main ideas and connotations of Marxist thought on women’s emancipation from a historical perspective, and on the other hand conducive to applying the basic principles of Marxism to understanding and solving the problems faced by women in development today. As the "second violinist",Engels wrote many classical works. From reading them,it is easy to find that Engels was very concerned about the survival and development of women and incorporated the discourse on women’s emancipation into his writings. Therefore, the article starts from the original work, and through combing the current situation of research by scholars at home and abroad, digs out the theories on women contained in Engels’ classic works, and summarises the main contents of Engels’ ideas on women’s emancipation and his views on the path of women’s emancipation in the context of the theory of "two kinds of production",on the basis of which it studies the theoretical value of Engels’ theories on the development of contemporary women’s cause. On this basis, the theoretical and practical values of Engels’ideas on women’s emancipation are examined. The article consists of five chapters, roughly divided into four parts.Through a review of the current researches by scholars both at home and abroad, the article explores the theoretical and practical value of Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation in the context of the"two kinds of production" theory, from the original writings, and extracts the thesis on women contained in Engels’ classic works. The article is mainly divided into three parts:The first part briefly summarizes the background of Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation, the sources of his ideas, the basis of his principles and the process of their development. With the increase in the primitive accumulation of capitalism, the bourgeois revolution overthrew the feudal autocracy and the capitalist system was gradually established. In this context, the people were freed from feudal oppression and bondage, labour became a commodity and women gradually participated in social production. However,Engels was concerned that in a capitalist society, the living conditions of workers, especially workerwomen, were even worse. The development and emancipation of women were based on the principle of the ’two kinds of production’ theory, which was intertwined with the humanistic ideas of the Renaissance, the discourse on’women’ in ideal socialism and the awakening of women’s own consciousness. The work was written in a coherent way. From this point onwards,Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation gradually took shape in a clear and unambiguous way.The second part discusses in detail the main elements of Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation.Based on the "two kinds of production" theory, the article examines Engels’thoughts on women’s emancipation in depth through a study of The Origin of the Family,Private Ownership and the State. In The Origin of the Family,Private Ownership and the State,Engels describes at length the transformation of the status of women in the family, the clan and the state, and creatively suggests that the breakdown of the balance between the two kinds of production and the establishment of private ownership are the fundamental causes of the decline in the status of women. The third part deals with Engels’s thoughts on women’s emancipation, and thus complements and enriches Marxist thoughts on women’s emancipation. The third part mainly summarises Engels’ discussion on the path to women’s emancipation, which is a major component of Engels’ ideas on women’s emancipation and an important contribution to his Marxist ideas on women’s emancipation. It mainly covers five aspects:the elimination of private ownership is the fundamental path to women’s emancipation, participation in public service is a prerequisite for women’s emancipation, participation in political construction is an important guarantee for women’s equality in terms of opportunities and space, the union of the sexes based on love is one of the conditions for emancipation, and education is a basic prerequisite for achieving gender equality. The fourth part focuses on the contemporary value of Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation, divided into two parts:theoretical value and practical value. In terms of theoretical value,Engels’ thoughts on women’s emancipation provides valuable theoretical guidance for the Chinese Communist Party’s thoughts on women’s emancipation and the main schools of Western feminism. In terms of practical value,it mainly provides guidanc on the path to the full development of women in the new era,and provides strong intellectual support for awakening the subjective consciousness of modern women. |
