Government trust is an important symbol of the modernization of government governance and a benchmark of national political life.political news plays a vital role in the formation of public government trust.The public obtains political information,understands the status quo of political life,constantly adjusts their own political expectations,and forms their subjective feelings about the government through contact with political news.This article uses the data from the 2017 "Netizens’ Social Awareness Survey" in the China National Survey Database(CNSDA.Starting from the two dimensions of political news contact frequency and media preference,explore the influence of political news contact on netizens’ government trust.First of all,the author summarizes the influencing factors of government trust based on the related research in political science,sociology and other related disciplines;Secondly,by constructing a multiple linear regression model to empirically test the differential influence of political news contact on netizens’ government trust,and combining theories of journalism and communication subject to explore the underlying reasons for the influence of the opposite sex;Finally,it puts forward practical countermeasures on how to increase public trust in government through political news contact.The research shows that there is a Pattern of “Difference Sequence" in the government trust of Chinese netizens.It means that the trust of central government is strong.In contrast,the trust of the local government is weak.In particular,Netizens have the highest degree of trust in the central government,followed by provincial governments and township governments,and The lowest level of trust village committees.Calculate a comprehensive index of government trust through factor analysis,construct a multiple linear regression model,and empirically analyze the influence of political news contact on Chinese netizens’ government trust.From the results of the regression model estimation,the frequency of political news contact has no significant influence on Chinese netizens’ government trust.Specific to the media preferences,the influence of different media preferences on political news contact on government trust has significant differences.First,using traditional media represented by newspapers and Xinhua News Agency has a significant and positive influence on netizens’ government trust;Second,using the Internet official media represented by government affairs websites has a significant and positive influence on netizens’ government trust.using non-official media on the Internet represented by Tencent and Toutiao,etc.had no significant influence on netizens’ government trust.Third,the foreign media have a negative effect on netizens’ government trust.Based on the research conclusions of this article,the suggestions are as follows:First,traditional media should keep pace with the world,broaden communication channels by using online platforms,apply the speed and timeliness of the Internet political news reports,continue to play a guiding role of public opinion,promote socialist core values,and highlight their own advantages,To ensure high-quality news content,and take measures to actively attract and woo audiences;Second,the new media should further strengthen the media’s sense of social responsibility,and minimize the negative influence that the media may cause to public government trust.Establish and improve the access mechanism for new media practitioners,and train a group of professional journalists;Third,the government should further strengthen network regulation and actively guide the public to use mainstream media.At the same time,try to cooperate with large domestic commercial media to form an alternative to overseas media.Governments,especially the local governments,should promptly disclose effective information which is closely related to the vital interests of people,promote transparency and openness in the policy implementation process,and use the Internet’s efficient feedback mechanism to strengthen interaction with the public and actively respond The public needs to improve the overall government trust level of the public through the provision of high-quality public services. |
