Abstract/Summary:
The construction of new rural communities is an important part of the strategy for revitalizing the countryside. It’s development is valued by governments at all levels. At present, the construction of new-type rural communities in China is developing well, the infrastructure is constantly improving, the community is renewed, and the spiritual and cultural levels of residents have been improved. The overall development trend is in line with the goal of building socialism with Chinese characteristics.Although the development of "hardware" in the community is good and the people’s material standards of life are guaranteed,it is still difficult to break through the limitations of traditional villages in the "software" part, mainly reflected in the participation of residents in community governance. In traditional villages, the government has too much power, and villagers are mostly unaware of the internal affairs of the village.Village affairs are mostly managed by the village committees and cadres, leading to prominent village governance issues. The development of new rural communities needs to abandon traditional thinking and community construction. It should be based on the governance of community residents. The production and living practices of community residents are completed within the community, and their behavior has an important relationship with the community. This connection includes not only political participation, but also economic participation, cultural participation,Social security participation, etc.,can be collectively referred to as social associations.Based on the above analysis, this article conducts research on new rural communities, community governance, and residents ’participation behaviors.Based on the theory of field-habitual theory and embeddedness theory, this paper describes the status of community residents’ participation in community governance with the descriptive statistics analysis and using the multiple linear regression to explore the impact of social associations on residents’ participation in community governance. The research results are as follows:(1)Through simple description statistics of residents’ participation in community governance behavior, community participation is ranked in order of public economic participation, public safety participation, public security participation, public cultural participation, public political participation, public participation facility participation.(2)Both the reliability and validity tests of the scale are qualified, and the data is highly reliable;in community associations, economic, cultural, and organizational associations have significant effects on residents’ participation in community governance;in multiple linear regression analysis Among the control variables, the variables that have a greater impact on economic, cultural, and organizational association models are the number of years of education and political appearance, and the less significant are gender and age;horizontal economic associations have a higher degree of influence than vertical economic associations, and are officially organized Associations have a higher degree of impact than informal organizations.(3)Of the 5 hypothetical inferences,4 are valid.Corollary 2:Residents with high collective economic income have higher levels of participation in community governance than residents with low collective economic income,Corollary 3: The stronger the binding force of the village regulations and covenants, the higher the degree of residents’ participation in community governance,Corollary 4: The more the work of the two committees of the community is recognized, the higher the degree of residents ’participation in community governance and corollary 5: The higher the participation of civil society organizations, the higher the degree of residents’ participation in community governance.Corollary 1 does not hold: residents with farm income have a higher degree of participation in community governance than those with income from farm work.
